This was <br />followed by discussion in regard to whether or not this was to be treated as an appeal to the Planning <br />Commission's decision or if there was a misunderstanding in regard to whether or not this is a free <br />standing sign or a fixed sign on the building. Councilman Spillers moved to set this for a public <br />hearing on May 7th3 seconded by Councilman Herkner. Councilman liteiss wanted to know what the Council <br />should be guided by in regard tothe sign ordinance. City Attorney Currie said that they are governed <br />only by the existing ordinance. The new sign ordinance is going to be presented in about one week. <br />Motion carried. <br />PLANNING COTf4ISSION RECOU1YE14DED APPROVAL A1IEXATION EIMALD LAKE .ARE -1. The Planning Commission believes that now <br />it is a desirable addition to Redwood City and is aware of the problems involved, which they feel can <br />worked out. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Weiss stated that long range planning should <br />be carefully explained to the people. The w75.00 annexation fee per lot would be ample to cover the <br />annexation charge are the people aware that they are subject to the $75.00 annexation fee per lot. <br />Councilman Granger stated that the people asked for annexation, the Council did not go out and ask the <br />people if they wanted to annex to the City. If the people are still in favor of annexation, they will <br />be expected to pay their full share and the City is not promising them anything. Councilman Britschgi <br />spoke on the subject and one of the facts he brought out was that the people should understand that <br />they will have to accept the bonded indebtedness. <br />City Attorney Currie told the Council the only thing they could do was to determine the area to be <br />annexed and get the description. When this is completed, it has to be turned over to the Boundary <br />Commission for their approval and then it will again be presented to the Council who will then adopt a" <br />a Resolution of Intention to circulate a petition. Then the Council vrill decide whether or not they WAW <br />will accept their share of the bonded indebtedness and the Council will set the date of the election. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare the necessary map, seconded <br />by Councilman Britschgi. This was followed by discussion in regard to what the description should <br />cover. City Attorney Currie stated that no steps could be taken until the boundaries have been est- <br />- � <br />anlished. The City Engineer requested permission to leave the Council Chamber in order to -et a couple of <br />mpas showing the areas in question.
