Motion carried, agenda 30 days. <br />The Clerk read a letter submitted by John W. Ryan, Chairman Parking Plaza Celebration Committee, with regard <br />to the completed plans for a two day celebration and a report of the events to take place. <br />CITY MANAGER REPORT ON COST OF HAVING A TRAFFIC ENGINEER MAKE AN OVERALL -SURVEY. The City Manager reported <br />that he had contacted Mr. D. J. Faustman, Consulting Engineer of Sacramento, who had requested a meeting Now <br />with the members of the City Council at 10:00 A. Am., Friday, June 8, in order to discuss, the exact <br />nature of the survey and area to be covered, before submitting a written quotation of the cost of his <br />services. In the event an outside engineer is to be employed, it will be necessary to determine the <br />cost of his services in order to provide necessary funds in the 1956-57 budget. The sum of x$3,000 has <br />been included in the 1956-57 budget for the completion of a Land Use Plan, and a Street and Highway Plan:. <br />Councilman Spillers, in answer to the City Manager, stated that he wanted all the streets surveyed. City <br />Manager Rolison wanted to know if some of the Councilmen would be present to meet with the Traffic <br />Engineer. Councilman Weiss wondered if the City could possibly be doing double work in proceeding with <br />the Traffic survey being made by the Planning Commission. <br />The Clerk read a copy of a letter written by Larry Wise to the City Manager relative to the Planning <br />Commission's recommendation that monies be provided in the budget for development of a Land Use Plan <br />and a Street.and Highway Plan. The Mayor asked Councilmen Spillers and Weiss to attend the meeting on <br />Friday morming. <br />Councilman Herkner asked Council permission to preserve the tree in the new parking lot. This was followed <br />by discussion after which Councilman Herkner moved that the tree be allowed to stay, seconded by Council- <br />man Spillers. City Engineer Jain stated that he had been advised that the chances are very slim in <br />being able to save the tree. This was followed by discussion after which the motion.carried. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM THE COUNTY REGARDING STREET LIGHTING CONDUIT AROUND SAN MATEO COUNTY HALL OF JUSTICE AND <br />RECORDS. The Clerk read the following letter: <br />In view of your proposed street improvements around the Hall of Justice and Records, <br />you will no doubt be interested in knowing that Ets-Hokin & Galvan were low bidders on the <br />street lighting conduit installation. I am recommending to the Board of Supervisors on <br />June 6, 1956, that Ets-Hokin & Galvan be awarded the contract and, since the Board of <br />Supervisors authorized the call for bids, I anticipate their approval of the low bid. <br />The specifications for this work state that the electrical contractor shall install <br />the conduit in strict accordance with you recommendations and that your office will inspect <br />and approve the installation. , <br />Ets-Hokin & Galvan could proceed with the work immediately after June 6. <br />Claims numbered 19385 through 19491, totaling $118,426.59, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Granger, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned to June 11th, seconded by Councilman Granger and a" <br />carried.
