Councilman Spillers stated that he did not feel that this statement was being fair to the City Engineer <br />and stated his reasoning for this remark. This.was followed by comments of the Mayor who explained the <br />whole proceedings to the people in the audience. Mr. Richard Sharp, 1245 Foothill Street, asked some <br />questions of the Council pertaining to what would happen if the work wasn't done in time and the water <br />problem on Foothill Street. The Mayor told Mr. Sharp that tonight they were only discussing the interceptor <br />sewers and not the storm drainage proble. This was followed by discussion of the Council. Councilman <br />Granger stated his thinking in this matter and why the Council should take this action tonight. Councilman <br />Granger stated. that if there was anyone who wanted this matter deferred for one week so they could check <br />into this matter he would go along with the request, however., he feels that this has received sufficient study <br />and consideration• <br />L Councilman Granger moved that in the interim of the introduction of the Resolution that the Council grant <br />Oddstad Homes the right to connect 20 homes a week. Councilman Stout congratulated City Engineer Jain for <br />his work in bring this matter before the Council for their attention. He also congratulated the City <br />Attorney for his legal advice and work in this matter. Councilman Granger withdrew his motion <br />Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION 2121 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF <br />REDWOOD.CITY AND ODDSTAD HOMES RELATIVE TO OCCUPANCY OF, AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWER FACILITIES <br />TO SERVE FARM HILLS SUBDIVISIONS AND MOVED ITS ADOPTION, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll <br />call with Councilman Weiss voting No and Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />A question was raised about the length of time there was for Oddstad to complete the sewers. The City <br />Attorney stated that under the previous contract the sewer in question was to be constructed by October, <br />1957, that this agreement provides for construction of the sewer in question by November 153, 1956, and <br />further provides for immediate construction, of a by-pass to prevent danger of overloading the rest of the <br />City system. He also stated that he was advised by the City Engineer that immediate cons ruction of the <br />by-pass would remove the danger of overloading from Farm Hills subdivisions which was referred to in the <br />letter of the City Engineer to Oddstad Homes of last week, and, it he did not believe that, he would have <br />recommended that the Council not approve the proposed new agreement regardless of the insurance. This was <br />followed by discussion.. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM DR. M. J. H. WALZBERG REGARDING POSSIBLE ABATEMENT OF GARAGE USED BY PISANO BAKERY (directly <br />south of 1414 Main Street - Michel Building). The Clerk read the letter. The Mayor announced that Mr. Bud <br />Stevenson has entered into an agreement to tear the building down, however, he is out of town for the present <br />and as soon as he returns they will commence work. The Building Inspector stated that on October 8th they <br />had taken out a pemei.t to tear down the building. The Clerk was asked to notify the gentleman. Councilman <br />Granger asked -that this be carried on the agenda for the first meeting in November. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST FOR CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON A STRIP OF LAND 19.50 FEET WIDE BEING A PORTION OF <br />LOT 6, BLOCK 43, BELLE HAVEN SUBDIVISION, was approved on motion of Councilman Stout, seconded by Councilman <br />Weiss and carried. <br />WOODSIDE PLAZA MERCHANTS ASSOCIATIONO INC., REQUEST PERMISSIONFFOR THE LANDING OF BANTA CLAUS BY HELICOPTER AT <br />THEIR SHOPPING CENTER FOR THE DATE CF NOVEMBER 24, 1956. The Clerk read the letter. Councilman Stout moved <br />approval of the request. The City Attorney asked that they include appropriate indemnification agreement <br />for City. This was included in the motion.' There were no objections from the Fire and Police Chiefs. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />WILLIAM F. FIEDLER REQUEST SPECIAL PERMIT TO INSTALL 38.5 SQ. FT. OF ASPHALT SECTION BETWEEN THE SIDEWALK AND <br />CURB ON MARYLAND STREET (corner of Maddux Drive and Maryland - 1907 Maddux Drive). The Clerk read the <br />letter. Councilman Spillers moved that the permit be denied, seconded by Councilman Weiss.
