Offeial result of election was determined after checking tally sheets <br />f or the 40 precincts, opening and counting of absentee ballots and declaring the final totals of -all <br />offices and propositions. <br />Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 2012 DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULT OF THE CONSOLIDATED <br />GENERAL AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 16, 19569 and moved its adoption, seconded <br />by.Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call, Councilman Jones being noted absent. Results indicated <br />the following received the greatest number votes and were declared elected: <br />Floyd D. Granger 1,317 <br />Sidney D. Herkner 3,951 <br />Louis Weiss 3,596 <br />Robert V. Spillers 2,860 <br />Measures "A" and "B" received more than two-thirds of votes cast and carried. Measure "C" failed to secure <br />the necessary votes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDINOOD CITY DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULT <br />OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL MINICIPAL BOND ELECTION, HELD ON <br />APRIL 10, 1956. <br />WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Redwood City, by Resolution No. 1982, duly passed and <br />adopted on Fehruary 20, 1956, designated the prescincts and polling places and appointed the <br />member os the precinct boards for the general elction to be held in said City of Redwood City <br />on April 10, 19560 as required by law, for the objects and purposes of (1) electing the <br />following municipal officers of said City of Redwood City: <br />Four (4) Councilmen for the full term <br />of four (4) years each: and <br />(2) submitting to the voters Charter Amendment No. 1 hereinafter referred to, and <br />VNHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 818 adopted by said Council on February 20, 1956, a <br />special municipal bond election was called for the purpose of submitting to the qualified <br />electors of said City the bond measures and each of them hereinafter specified, which said <br />special minicipal bond election was by said Ordinance consolidated with the general municipal <br />elction hereinabove referred to: and <br />ZF4EAS, said general m=. icipal elction and consolidated special municipal bond election <br />was he14 on Tuesday, April 10, 1956, in accordance with law, and the votes thereat received <br />and ca0assed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all respects <br />as required by law; <br />NaV3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, as follows: <br />1. That the City Clerk of the City of Redwood City be, and is hereby, instructed to <br />enter this resolution on the minutes of this Council as a statement of the result of said <br />election. <br />2. That the whole number of votes cast in said City at said consolidated general and <br />special municipal bond elction was 7111 votes. That 35 ballots were spoiled and no counted. <br />3. That at said election the following measures and each of them for incurring <br />bonded indebtedness and the following charter amendment proposal were submitted to the <br />electors of said City and that the number of votes given in said City for and against each <br />of said measures (including absentee votes was as follows: <br />MEASURE (A): <br />(Police Station) Shall the City of <br />Redwood City incur a bonded indebtedness <br />in the principal amount of $150,000, in <br />accordance with the provisions of the <br />ordinance calling the e]aetion at which <br />Total <br />Vote <br />"YES" <br />4,861 <br />Total Total Ballots <br />Vote Spoiled and <br />"NO" Not Counted <br />1,907 35 <br />0 <br />0 <br />r <br />
