Councilman Granger <br /> spoke about holding this matter over for a while for further consideration of industrial rates inside and <br /> outside. This was followed by discussion. The City Attorney stated that he doubted the legality of the <br /> change and setting up a separate rate for the hospital. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved to carry this on the agenda for one week and have a study meeting this week, <br /> .r Thursday night if possible, seconded by Councilman Granger. Councilman Granger stated that they could <br /> possibly change the rates for 1,000,000 gallon users. Councilman Weiss reported on rental charges outside <br /> the City limits. The motion carried on rail call with Mayor Royer voting NO. <br /> RESOLUTION APPOINT ATTORNEY FOR KENTFIELD-PALM-VALOTA IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. The City Manager stated that he <br /> rm: talked this over with the City Attorney and because of the work load in his office it is the recommendation <br /> of the City Attorney and because of the work load in his office it is the recommendation of the City Manager <br /> that the firm of Currie, Lebsack and Hannig be hired as attorneys for this particular proceeding. The <br /> City Attorney concurred in the City Manager's recommendation. Councilman Granger moved that this item be <br /> referred:.to the City Manager and he be authorized to act on the agreement and negotiate to the best <br /> interest of the City and report back.to the Council, seconded by Councilman Herkner. Councilman Weiss <br /> wanted to know what would happen if the project should fall through. The City Attorney stated that that <br /> is why they asked that they be allowed to negotiate. Councilman Weiss. questioned the advisability of <br /> exploring some substitute procedure that would provide the employment of an assistant to the City Attorney <br /> and an additional engineer to process the spreading of assessments, such duties being in addition to any <br /> other that may be necessary and required of such personnel. He suggested that this matter be studied by <br /> the City Manager and the Council later. The Mayor asked the City Manager to have the facts on this for <br /> study at budget time. This was followed by discussion after which the motion carried. Councilman Spillers <br /> left the meeting at 9:47 P.M. <br /> SAN MATEO COUNTY LIST OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY - SUGGEST APPLYING FOR CANCELLATION OF COUNTY TAXES. Sly t Block 2 Hancock Addition Tract <br /> Lot 23 " 37 Central Park No. 2 <br /> Lot 14 " ) 1 n n n <br /> Lots 33 and 34 " 4 Jefferson Acres <br /> Councilman Herkner moved that the Council order the cancellation of taxes, seconded by Councilman Weiss <br /> and carried on roll call, Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br /> roft <br /> The City Attorney reported on the action he had been requested to do in regard to stopping annexation proceedings <br /> of the Bohannon annexation to Menlo Park. He outlined the action which he took to carry out the Council's <br /> wihhea. Under a gentlemen's agreement, the Menlo Park Council has agreed not to annex property north of the <br /> present annexation. If the Council feels that this is sufficient then the City Attorney should be auth- <br /> .., orized to drop their action in stopping the proceedings. The other action if for the Council to adopt a <br /> .n resolution to proceed with the protest of the annexation. <br /> One of the five property owners, in the 18 acres between the two parcels being annexed to Menlo Park, <br /> addressed the Council. He stated that if this annexation is allowed that they will be forced to annex into <br /> Menlo Park whether they wanted to or not. If they wanted to be annexed into Redwood City they would have <br /> to be annexed in the back way through the salt flats. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Herkner <br /> moved that, in view of the points that were brought up tonight, they drop the suit and go along with the <br />
