Councilman Spillers moved that the matter be held over for two weeks for further investi- <br /> gation and discussion with the property owners in the area proposed for annexation. This motion <br /> was seconded and. carried. <br /> CONTRACTOR JOSEPH GREENBACH JR. REGARDING POLICE BUILDING CONTRACT. The City Attorney stated that he <br /> had been contacted by Mr. Greenbach and asked that this be held over for one week. Councilman <br /> Spillers.moved that this be referred to the City Attorney for a report in one week, seconded by <br /> Councilman Herkner and carried. <br /> CITY OF SAN CARLOS REGARDING BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT. The Clerk read the report of Councilman Weiss, <br /> ...r <br /> Committee on Rapid Transit to whom the City of San Carlos's letter had been turned over to for a <br /> report. Councilman Weiss recommended that the City Clerk be directed to acknowledge this communi- <br /> cation=with a statement that the entire matter of Rapid Transit is still under study by the Council <br /> of this City. Councilman Weiss moved to accept the report and recommendation, seconded by Councilman <br /> Spillers and carried. <br /> • REDWOOD CITY TAXICAB COMPANIES REQUEST AUTHORITY TO RAISE RATES. The Clerk read the letter wherein it was <br /> stated that the proposed rates would be to raise the rate from 50¢ for the first 3/4 mile to 500: for <br /> the first 1/2 mile. Waiting time to be raised from $3.00 per hour to $5.00 per, hour. The City <br /> Attorney stated that the City has an ordinance which sets the rates. If the Council grants this <br /> request then they will have to change the ordinance. Councilman Spillers moved that a committee be <br /> appointed to check into this matter and make their report next week, seconded by Councilman Weymouth <br /> and carried. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Spillers, Weymouth and Herkner as member of the committee. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED OBTAINING SURFACE RIGHTS TO THE HETCH-HETCHY R?W IN VICINITY OF ... <br /> ALTAMONT WAY AND PIEDMONT. The Clerk read the letter wherein the Commission asked the Council to <br /> take the necessary steps to obtain the surface rights to the lots themselves, namely lots 16, 17, 18, <br /> and 19, Block 13, Highlands of Emerald Lake. A less desirable alternate would be to obtain the <br /> same surface rights across the same lots, plus the remaining protions of lots 16 and 17 only, <br /> consisting of approximately .324 acres fronting on Piedmont and approximately .084 acres in the rear <br /> of Lots 16 and 17, with no rear access. The Commission requested that at this time as it seems <br /> a comparatively economical way to obtain recreational areas in a location where it will be much needed <br /> in the forseeable future. <br /> The City Attorney stated that he contacted the Hetch-Hetchy Water Company and they stated that the <br /> City should make an offer for the property. He recommended that the property be appraised and if <br /> the price is not too high perhaps the City could purchase the property. Mr. Jain stated that these <br /> lots, which are useable, are subject to charges for assessments on the sewer and water improvements Sri <br /> now in process in the area. Councilman Spillers moved to refer t his to the Real Estate Committee, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br /> TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED STOP SIGNS ON OAK KNOLL AT EACH OF ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH CANYON ROAD. The <br /> feel <br /> Clerk read the letter. Councilman Stout moved to approve the Traffic Committee's recommendation and <br /> offered RESOLUTION 2177 ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS ON OAK KNOLL DRIVE AT EACH OF ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH <br /> CANYON ROAD and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br /> CITY ENGINEER RECOMMENDATION REGARDING RELIEF SEWER IX (FARM HILL SUBDIVISIONS). The Construction of <br /> Relief Sewer IX in Goodwin Avenue and Fernside Street between Virginia Avenue and Carson Streit, <br /> to serve the Farm Hill subdivisions, has been completed in accordance with plans and specifications <br /> and to the satisfaction of the Engineering Department. The City Engineer ecommended that this work <br />
