Moore, City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />August 22, 1960s 8:00 P.M. <br />INVOCATION WAS led by Reverend Robert Anderson, Church of the Nazarene. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Sidney D. Herkner, John S .R osselli, William H. <br />Royer, Harold Co Stehle, Mayor Ray A. Weymouth -and City Clerk Helen Co Moore. Councilmen Aon W.F ie]As <br />and Floyd D. Granger were noted absent. Also noted present were City Manager J. E. Neal, Assistant City <br />Attorney Richard Gardella, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Assessor - <br />Auditor John J. Brophy, Deputy City Engineer Melvin E. Moen, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Engineer- <br />ing Associate William Wallace Jr. and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Rifbjerg. <br />Councilman Herkner moved approval of the minutes of August 15th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Stehle, and <br />carried. <br />OPEN BIDS, ADAMS STREET CULVERT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. The following bids were received: <br />Power -Mullin Construction, Inc., Mountain View $13,946.00 <br />Oscar C. Holmes, Inc., Menlo Park 15,412.00 <br />McGuire and Hester, Oakland 15,748.10 <br />Ace Drilling & Construction, Santa Clara 14,783.66 <br />Dan Caputo Co., San Jose 159973.00 <br />E. T. Haas Company, Belmont 16,752.00 <br />Engineer's estimate $13,743.80 <br />Councilman Royer moved to refer the bids to the City Engineer for checking and report back later in <br />the meeting, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED ADAMS STREET CULVERT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, per "Redolution of Intention No. 3150," <br />adopted by the Council on July 25, 1960. The public hearing was declared open and the affidavits of <br />publication of Resolution of Intention, Notice Inviting Sealed bids, mailing and posting notice of <br />adoption of ROsolution of Intention, posting notice inviting sealed proposals oil bids were ordered filed. <br />A letter of protest from Ambrogio and Rosa Besozzi, Lot 9 of Pellarin Court, was read, as well as a <br />petition with nineteen signatures of property property owners -protesting the improvement district. <br />Edward G. Edwards, 3.128 Adams Street, addressed the Council on behalf of his neighbors. They did not <br />object to,the bridge being fixed but they did object to having to pay their share of the construction <br />cost. They felt the bridge should be built at City expense or the district should be enlarged to in- <br />clude the business establishments on E1 Camino Real because of their extensive use of Adams Street. <br />William Voris, 1136 Adams Street and Victor Pinotti, 1161 Adams street, also stated their objections. <br />Since the City Engineer was not present and his Deputy was checking the bids, Councilman Royer moved <br />to continue the public hearing until after the engineer reported back with the bids, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON RESOLUTION OF INTENTION -N0. 3174 to modify and amend proceedings under Resolution No. 3072 <br />(Regent Street Extension). There ware additional changes and modifications and under the circumstances <br />it was recommended that the existing proceedings under Resolution No. 3174 be terminated and a new <br />resolution passed setting another date for a public hearing. The public hearing was declared openand <br />the affidavit of publication ordered filed. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Royer <br />moved to terminate the existing proceedings, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0, 3183 BEING A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO MODIFY <br />AND AMEND PROCEEDINGS UNDER RESOUTION ND. _30 2 (REGEff STREET EXTENSION) which sets the public hearing <br />
