<br />The City Manager submitted the following report:

<br />All of the above items which have been reduced will be put in the bid as alternates.
<br />Total fill dirt for the parking lot amounts to approximately $35,000. If we do not
<br />get a low bid so that this can be done, we shall hold this off until next summer and
<br />advertise on this one item alone. By that time we may find some fill at a less ex—
<br />pensive price."
<br />It was the City Manager's recommendation that they readvertise for bids and ask that alternates for certain
<br />items be provided for in the bids. This was followed by discussion on the request of the project engineer,
<br />o
<br />George Nolte, for an additional fee f or changing the specifications, in preparation for readvertising. Coun—
<br />cilman Royer moved that the Council loots with, favor on the City Manager's recommendation for readvertising,
<br />the City Manager to contact the engineer and get a specific top maximum figure on the cost for the proposed
<br />changes in the plans and specifications for final approval (MINUTE ,ORDER #60-244), seconded by Councilman
<br />Granger and carried, 'Councilmen Rosselli and Stehle voting no.
<br />Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 3249 RELATIVE TO THE APPLICATION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
<br />TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF SMALL CRAFT HARBORS, FOR A SUPPLEMENTAL LOAN IN THE AMOUNT CF' $30,000,
<br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Royer mentioned for the record that this money was for possible
<br />acceptance of some of the alternates on the readvertising. The motion carried unanimously on roll call, Coun—
<br />cilman Fielas being noted absent.
<br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUESTS CANCELLATION OF TAXES as required under Section 4986 of the Revenue and Taxation
<br />Code on two parcels acquired for Highway purposes. Parcel 1: Nellie Hall, the NEly 10', front and rear
<br />measurements of Lot 9s and the S9.y 33', front and rear measurements of Lot lU, Block 27, Eastern Addition;
<br />Parcel 2: John Giannetto, et ux, Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, Block 30, Eastern Addition. Councilman Granger
<br />moved to cancel the taxes as requested subject to approval cf the City Attorney (MINUTE ORDER #60-245), seconded
<br />by Councilman Stehle and carried.
<br />APPLICATION OF RICHFIELD OIL COMPANY FOR VARIANCE from strict application of Sidewalk Ordinance to permit them to
<br />retain existing driveway on Brewster Avenue for their El Camino Real—Brewster station. The Traffice Bureau
<br />and the Planning Staff recommend against the granting of this variance. Councilman Granger raised the questim
<br />as to why this matter was held up so long. The City Engineer briefed the Council on the history of the remodel—
<br />ing of this station. Police Chief Faulstich reported that there was a safety hazard involved here. Council—
<br />man Rosselli moved to uphold the Traffic Bureau's recommendation and deny the variance (MINUTE ORDER #60-246),
<br />seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried, Councilmen Granger and Royer voting no.
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 3247 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION
<br />MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS (JEFFERSON AVENUE TO MAIN STREET), seconded by Councilman Royer and carried
<br />unanimously on roil call, Councilman Fields being noted absent. The public hearing is set for December 5th.
