The Council checked the tally sheets for the 50 precincts and noted the <br />corrections in precinct QQ. They then recessed at 9:26 p. me to wait until the City Clerk appeared With <br />the results of the Canvassing Board for the absentee ballots. <br />The meeting was called back to order at 9:59 po me and the results of the absentee ballots were read. The <br />Mayor then declared the final totals of all offices, measures and propositions. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 3048 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL CF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY DECLARING CANVASS CF RETURNS AND RESULT OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL <br />MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION, HELD ON APRIL 12, 1960, seconded by Councilman Herkner, The Mayor asked if there <br />were any objections prior to roll call on the resolution. There were no objections. The candidates present <br />were Messrs. Myers, Frohlich, Stehle and Smith. The resolution carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Results indicated the following received the greatest number of votes and were declared elected: <br />Floyd D. Granger <br />5526 <br />Ronsia We Fields <br />4550 <br />Sidney D. Herkner <br />4476 <br />Harold C. Stehle <br />4444 <br />Measures A through I failed to receive the necessary two --thirds votes cast. Measure J received less than a <br />majority of all the votes cast and lost. More than a majority of all the votes cast on each of said charter <br />amendment porposals 1, 2, and 3 and said proposals carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3048 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF REDWOOD CITY DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND <br />RESULT CF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION, <br />HELD ON APRIL 12, 1960. <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City, by Resolution No. 2986, duly passed and <br />adopted on February 15, 1960, designated the precincts and polling places and appointed the members of <br />the precinct boards for the general election to be held in said City of Redwood City on April 72, 1960, <br />as required>by law, for the objects and purposes of (1) electing the following municipal officers of <br />said City of Redwood City. - <br />Four (4) Councilmen for the full term of four (4) years each; and <br />(2) submitting to the voters three charter amendment proposals and Measure (J) (Local Sales and Use <br />Tax) hereinafter referred to; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 961 adopted by said Council. on March 7, 1960, a special <br />municipal bond election was called for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said City <br />the nine bond measures and each of them hereinafter specified, which said special municipal bond elect— <br />ion was by said Ordinance consolidated with the general municipal election hereinabove referred to; and <br />WHEREAS, said general municipal election and consolidated special municipal bond election <br />was held on Tuesday, April 12, 1960, in accordance with law, and the votes thereat received and can— <br />vassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all respects as required by <br />law; <br />NOff9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, as follows: <br />1. That the City Clerk,of the City of Redwood City be, and is hereby, instructed to enter <br />this resolution on the minutes of this Council as a statement of the result of said election. <br />2. That the whole number of votes cast in sa id City at said consolidated general and <br />special municipal bond election was 10,434 votes. That 109 ballots were spoiled and not counted. <br />3.
