He also commented on the <br /> regional transportation center which had been turned down by the <br /> State, but which in view of the present fuel shortage situation, <br /> � <br /> should make this a more attractive proposal . <br /> Mr. Fales and Director of Public Works Pusich commented and re- <br /> '�" plied to questions regarding the fact that neither the County <br /> nor Town of Atherton is willing to participate in the responsi- <br /> bility for the Nimitz Ditch; that the existing wood walls require <br /> frequent repair, and that the proposal to line the ditch with <br /> steel sheet piling will eliminate the need for maintenance until <br /> such time as the other two agencies might be willing to join in <br /> a project to line the channel with concrete. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES <br /> Mr. Fales advised that the improvements proposed for Red Morton <br /> Community Park will virtually finish the work planned several <br /> years ago. Mayor Barrett commented that he would like to see <br /> the Washington School property as a park facility if it becomes <br /> available. <br /> Discussion followed regarding the possibility of night lighting <br /> of tennis courts and estimated annual cost of energy for the <br /> lighting. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Bury moved, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, <br /> .-� to reinstitute night lighting of the City's tennis courts. <br /> ,,,�„ The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER N0. 79-105) <br /> ADOPTION OF BUDGET <br /> In the brief discussion which followed, Mr. Fales pointed out that <br /> it is only realistic to recognize that 1) the Budget assumes that <br /> the State legislature and government will provide one whole year of <br /> "bail-out" money; 2) it includes Revenue Sharing Funds which <br /> have been necessary to keep City services at the present level , but <br /> will expire in 1980; and 3) negotiations have not been completed <br /> with the POA, and those funds will have to come out of what re- <br /> mains of Reserves. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Bury moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi , to <br /> adopt the recommended Annual Budget F.Y. 1979-1980 as amended. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER N0. 79-106) <br /> � Adjournment <br /> MOTION: Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Council <br /> `""' adjourned at 11:09 a.m. to an Executive Session on Monday, May 21, <br /> 1979 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Manager's office. <br /> FRANCES I .
