463 <br /> Zonin�and Land Use in Port Jurisdiction <br /> City Manager Fales and City Attorney Schricker commented concerning <br /> regulation of land use and compatibility of designations in the Port <br /> area. <br /> .-.. <br /> Mr. Fales observed that with regard to economic development of the , <br /> � Port, the Port has purchased independently sanitary sewage capacity , <br /> and also made up the shortfall in the EDA grant for sewer and water <br /> service development. He stated that staff is preparing a proposal <br /> for standards and criteria for exercise of powers held jointly by <br /> the Port Comnission and the City Council and on the economics of the <br /> revenue situation with regard to recapture of the Port's investment <br /> in sewage capacity. Mr. Fales advised that a connection fee would <br /> allow the Port legitimate means to do so. <br /> Discussion followed and Mr. Schricker and Chairman Mauk commented <br /> concerning use of Port properties for water oriented development and <br /> the need to include maintenance and ultimate replacement costs in <br /> assessing the connection fees. <br /> (Councilman Bury arrived at 5:45 p.m. ) <br /> GENERAL <br /> Mayor Barrett thanked the members of the Port Commission for the <br /> opportunity to meet with them, advising Council will expect to hear <br /> from the Comnission with regard to the Special Area Plan. <br /> ""`�" In response to question, Planning Director Schroeter advised that <br /> BCDC has not yet acted and is not expected to do so until action is <br /> �»-� taken by the City, except if the City determines it will not act. <br /> It was noted that with pressure for development on Bair Island, the <br /> objectives of some of the agencies involved will be forced out into <br /> the open and that there does not appear to be anyone who wishes to go <br /> on record to eliminate the Port of Redwood City. <br /> Adjournment <br /> Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the joint meeting of the <br /> City Council and Port Comnission was adjourned at 5:55 p.m. <br /> JACQUELINE C.
