Duke, President of Canada <br /> � College; and Clifford M. Boxley, Director of PROBE <br /> � in support of the requested extension of service. <br /> , <br /> � Bill Walsh, Ca.nada College, stated that he can <br /> i un3�ers—�an�c the City' s reluctance to spend several <br /> � thousand dollars to extend bus service which was <br /> y not used in the past, but suggested the possi- <br /> F bility of rerouting an occasional bus to the <br /> � College on a regular basis to provide transpor- <br /> `' tation for those who have no other means of <br /> ' getting to and from the campus. <br /> ; Albert Franklin, resident of Redwood City and <br /> ? s u en a e College, stated he knows there <br /> � is student demand for a bus amorig students like <br /> s <br /> himself who must hitchhike or walk to the campus, <br /> but acknowledged he does not know the number of <br /> students who might regularly use bus service . <br /> Mr. Franklin suggested there might be increased <br /> college enrollment, if bus service were available. ,..,�, <br /> Mayor Weymouth ordered the request for an ex- <br /> tension of bus service to Canada College be "�"" <br /> referred to staff for report back to Council. <br /> (M�o 7/9/7�+) <br /> ' Oral Communications <br /> l. John T. Crevelt, 143� Mitchell Way, Chairman of <br /> ave ur ecreational Land, advised tha� the <br /> Redwood City School Board has issued a request <br /> for bids for a 6.8-acre site at Canada Road and <br /> ' Godetia Drive and a 12-acre site on Santa Clara <br /> Avenue. Mr. Crevelt urged that the City attempt <br /> ; to negotiate with the School Board in order to <br /> acquire the properties for recreational use. <br /> � Discussion followed concerning the lack of City <br /> funds to acquire it; the former expection of the <br /> City that some of the property might be prepared <br /> ; for use as athletic fields at City expense; the <br /> ' inability of the City to pursue any arrangement <br /> F for use of the properties while the sites are <br /> � being offered for sale; and the fact that the �""'"' <br /> � decision to sell the properties is an appro- <br /> priate policy decision of the School Board. �� <br /> Mr. Crevelt urged the City Council to direct the <br /> � staff to talk with School Superintendent Wilson <br /> i <br /> -8- <br /> a 7/�/?��.Mtg. <br /> 4y <br /> k <br /> I <br /> i . , . � .�..._. .. �-..._ .__ .. <br />
