Y8x <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> MOTION: Title ha,ving been read, Councilman Norris intro- <br /> duced the following resolution and moved, seconded by <br /> Councilman Henderson, its adoption: <br /> �„ RESOLUTION N0. 7220 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br /> OF NT FOR THE FURNISHING OF <br /> � <br /> SOFTWARE DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> Transit System bctension Service <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith referred to the Manager's <br /> report of July 16, 197�F regarding the sub,ject service. <br /> Mr. Smith advised that there is pending legislation <br /> which would help cities with general operating aspects <br /> of bus systems and recommended as follows : <br /> 1, that the Council authorize the establishment <br /> of a Fair Oaks route and that an agreement be <br /> entered into with San Mateo County for the <br /> funding of any losses incurred by the City; <br /> 2 . that a Canada College route not be established <br /> and that the request be again reviewed when <br /> the legislative picture is clarified, which <br /> will hopefully eliminate General Fund subsidi- <br /> ,r.�,. <br /> zation for said route; and <br /> 3. that the Council authorize the preparation of <br /> r�, specifications with the intent to call for bids <br /> on two buses. <br /> In response to questions concerning possible establish- <br /> ment of service to Canada College, Art Balsamo of the <br /> City Manager' s office advised that present equipment and <br /> routes would not permit it. <br /> i Discussion followed concerning whether or not a reason- <br /> able trial period for Canada service had been held; <br /> whether the College is willing or able to contribute to <br /> the cost of bus operation; the possibility of funds being <br />� available to subsidize service to the College if pending <br />� legislation is adopted; and the desirability of reviewing <br /> the matter a�ain within a few months when more informa- <br />� tion on funding is available. <br />; MOTION : Councilman Henderson moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Barrett, tha.t : <br /> ' 1, the Council authorize the establishment of a <br />, Fair Oaks route and that an agreement be <br /> �,,, entered into with San Mateo County for the <br /> funding of any losses incurred by the City; <br />` �""'" 2. that Canada College route be reviewed again <br /> when the legislative picture has been clari- <br /> fied within two or three months; and <br /> -�- <br /> 7�22�7�� <br />
