<br /> In response to question from Mayor Weymouth, City Clerk
<br /> Hildebrand advised that the Affidavit of Publication of
<br /> Notice of Hearing is on file in her office and that no
<br /> written communications have been received.
<br /> Councilman Henderson advised that she has received at
<br /> , home letters from Douglas Gray dated October 11 and
<br /> from Thomas J. Hunter dated November 19 in opposition
<br /> to adoption of the Code. It was established that the
<br /> letters had been sent only to Council members at their
<br /> homes and copies were not supplied to staff.
<br /> City Attorney Schricker requested that the Minutes show
<br /> that correspondence such as that sent to Council members'
<br /> home should be sent to them at City Hall so that the
<br /> City Clerk will make proper distribution.
<br /> City Manager Fales r�ferred to his report of November 22,
<br /> 1974 transmitting a supplementary report and related
<br /> materials from the Chief Building Official, dated
<br /> November 8. Mr. Fales also called attention to the
<br /> Manager' s report of November 1 attaching material from
<br /> the Chief Building Official previously sent to Council.
<br /> Chief Building Official Gyselbrecht commented regarding
<br /> his reports, noted that only one principal local amend-
<br /> ment is recommended with regard to a requirement for
<br /> safety pins on inter�or hot water hea.ters in order to
<br /> ,�,,,,, prevent damage from leaking water heaters, and summarized,
<br /> stating that the Plumbing Code presented for a,doption is
<br /> the bas3.c model code of the State of California. Mr.
<br /> "'�" Gyselbrecht replied to questions from Council regarding
<br /> the Code.
<br /> Mrs. Zuma Francis, 90� Cleveland, suggested it is not

<br /> Thomas J. Hunter Business Agent Plumbers Union, had
<br /> su m e o Counc mem ers a rev ew o proposed
<br /> changes to which he referred. He stated he would com-
<br /> mence with consideration of what he believes are the
<br /> fire hazards of plastic pipe which dictate it should
<br /> not be used.
<br /> In response to question, City Attorney Schricker advised
<br /> that although no changes are proposed in the Code with
<br /> """" regard to plastic pipe at the present time, the subject
<br /> is germane to consideration of the entire Code and may
<br /> � be considered now.
<br /> Mr. Hunter made a slide presentation prepared by the San
<br /> Jose Fire Department showing the state of certain plastic
<br /> pipe after fire exposure and sugge:, `�d considerable
<br /> hazard to life exists where such pipe burns. Mr. Hunter
