Steinkamp , Mayor of the City of South San Francisco , re dredging of Mare Island Channel In accord with the recommendation of City Manager Fales , Vice Mayor Henderson ordered the subject letter referred to the Port Commission and requested the City Clerk to advise Mayor Steinkamp of the referral . (MEMO 12/18/73 ) Letter from Governor Ronald Reagan re 55 mph speed limit City Manager Fales read the letter from Governor Reagan dated December 12 , 1973 advising of the signing of Assembly Bill 1969 establishing a 55 mile per hour speed limit for all California. and the issuance of Executive Order R -47 -73 , effective January 1 , 1974 , which reflects the change . Harry Jackson , attorney representing Mobil Oil Estates Limited (Redwood ) inc . read a letter addressed to the Council regarding the conveyance of real property to the City and requested Council action at this time . MOTION : Councilman Williams moved , seconded by Councilman Norris , to accept the offer of Mobil Oil Estates Limited (Redwood ) Inc . for the conveyance of real property to the City of Redwood City for right - of-way purposes and to authorize the City Clerk to accept the deed for such property upon its delivery and to record same . The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . (MINUTE ORDER NO , ?3 - 168 ) Civic Cultural Commission Appointments Vice Mayor Henderson reported that Councilman Leipzig has nominated Miss Patti Bury for appointment to the Civic Cultural Commission . Vice Mayor Henderson also nominated Mrs . Jean Groberg and invited other nominations to fill the two forth - coming vacancies on the Commission . MOTION : Councilman Williams moved , seconded by Councilman Norris , to continue nominations to the Civic Cultural Commission until the next regular Council meeting on January 7 , 1974 . The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . (MINUTE ORDER NO , 73 - 169) Subcommittee - Housing Concerns Committee ( see below also ) City Manager Pales presented for confirmation the names of the nominees for the working subcommittee of the Housing Concerns Committee . The subcommittee is being formed for the sole purpose of considering the offer of eight acres of Mobil Oil Estates Limited (Redwood ) Inc . for low and moderate income housing and must report 12/17/73 Reg .
