Officials and staff present: Light, Schricker, Jorgenson and Ingram, Patterson, Passanisi, Jany, Ponty, Taylor Switzer, Luck, Svoboda PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Councilman Greenalch INVOCATION - Pastor James Anderson Messiah Lutheran Church ---------------..--------------------------------------------------------------- 1. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS A. Bob Bryant, Broadway merchant, asked that Councilwoman Steinfeld be removed from the Council Community Promotion Committee as she and her husband own a business in the downtown area and there is a possible conflict of interest. Mayor Buchan explained that the Community Promotion Committee was established to promote the whole city, not just one area. Mayor Buchan reminded everyone that City Attorney Schricker had already spoken for the record that Councilwoman Steinfeld's participation in this committee did not constitute a conflict of interest: The committee will present recommendations to the Council as a whole and the Council will make the decisions, not the committee. Mayor Buchan asked everyone to give this committee a chance to work. Joe Steinfeld, Main Street merchant, suggested that the Council Community Promotion Committee confine its activities to promotion and not to marketing as governments do not understand marketing strategies.
