Council requested comments from the Police Chief concerning Police Youth Club and he <br />reported the excellent showing of the Color Guard, who won first place in the recent <br />competition in San Jose, <br />Councilman Henderson announced the Legislative Committee meeting set for April 7 would be <br />postponed to April 21, because of the conflict with the scheduled meeting of the State <br />Water Quality Control Board. <br />Mayor Bury ordered adjournment of the Regular Meeting to Executive Session at 9:30 P.M. <br />for the purpose of discussing matters of possible litigation <br />1. Regular meeting reconvened and a motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Henderson, <br />seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried. <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:35 P.M. <br />MARIAN MCCRINDLE, City Clerk <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />April 13, 1970 7:30 P.M. <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Rosselli. <br />Invocation led by Reverend John Haverland, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Dixon Arnett, Mary W. Henderson, <br />Paul C. Keckley, John S. Rosselli, Ray A. Weymouth, Mayor Robert H. Bury, and City <br />Clerk Marian McCrindle. Councilman Herbert G. Petersen was noted absent. Also present <br />were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney David E. Schricker, Assistant City <br />Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief John R. McDonald, Jr., Fire Chief John Keller, <br />Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Planning Director Ken Schroeter, City <br />Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference, City Treasurer Harriet Drivon, Chief Building Of- <br />ficial Charles Gyselbrecht, and Secretary Frances Ozzanto, <br />Councilman Keckley moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 6, 1970, and <br />Minutes of Executive Session of April 6, 1970, as mailed, seconded by Councilman <br />Arnett and carried. <br />RESOLUTION N0, 6266 COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE COLOR GUARD OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br />POLICE YOUTH CLUB ON WINNING THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COLOR GUARD CIRCUIT CLASS A <br />CHAMPIONSHIP was unanimously approved on motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded by <br />Councilman Arnett. <br />On display were numerous trophies, which the Police Chief reported were won by the <br />Police Youth Club "Guardsmen" Color Guard, which in the five competitive shows entered, <br />had come away with either first or second place trophies. In the State championship <br />the group had won the top three awards: First place, Class A; first place, High <br />General Effect, and the Color Guard Captain judged the Outstanding Color Guard Cap- <br />tain, Dan Smith was introduced as instructor of the Color Guard Team, who, in turn, <br />introduced Joanne Berdall, Color Guard Captain. The individual members of the team <br />were then presented. The Police Chief also noted the presence of the Booster Club <br />— Members, composed of parents and boosters of the Team. Mayor Bury then presented <br />the resolution to Captain Berdall, with expressions of pride on behalf of the Council <br />and the community. <br />
