Councilman Arnett moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO, 1452 APPROPRIATING $160,000 FROM UNAP- <br />PROPRIATED BALANCE OF WATER FUND TO PROVIDE FOR ACQUISITION OF FRIENDLY ACRES WATER <br />SYSTEM, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll call vote, Councilman <br />Petersen being noted absent. <br />DAMAGE CLAIM of Robert W. Ravenscroft, 678 Barbour Drive, for property damages alleged <br />to have been caused by negligent operation of Municipal Bus, denied and referred to <br />insurance carrier on motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded by Councilman Keckley <br />and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-69) <br />ACCOUNTS PAYABLE Nos. 77506 to 77690, inclusive, in the amount of $171,741.53 approved <br />for payment on motion of Councilman Keckley, seconded by Councilman Arnett and <br />carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Petition for a Neighborhood Playground in the vicinity of <br />Palm, Hudson and Oxford, bearing 92 signatures, (Copies had <br />been submitted to Council with report by City Manager) <br />in <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to refer the request to Staff for recommendation and report, <br />seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-70) <br />City of Burlingame to Coordinating Council for Higher Edu- <br />cation, urging early construction of state college facilities <br />in Redwood City, (Copies submitted to Council) <br />City of Pacifica, enclosing their resolution calling for early <br />construction of State College in Redwood City, (Copies sub- <br />mitted to Council) <br />Mayor Bury advised he will respond to these letters, along with others received <br />expressing similar support. <br />Mayor Bury referred to a communication he had received from Mr. Wilkerson, 2205 <br />Middlefield Road, operator of the Vista Market, asking for consideration for desig- <br />nation of pedestrian crosswalks at intervals on Middlefield Road because of numerous <br />pedestrian accidents, Councilman Henderson indicated she and City Manager had dis- <br />cussed the problem and effort is being made to find solutions to the problem. <br />Delores Gay, 234 Marshall, citing several objections to the <br />anticipated improvements, Woodside Road, between Kentucky <br />and Maryland. (Copies requested to be furnished to Council) <br />Councilman Henderson suggested the matter be referred to Staff for response to Miss <br />Gay, with copies of response for Council. (Memo 4/14/70) <br />On motion of Councilman Arnett, seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried, Regular <br />Meeting was adjourned to Executive Session at 8:05 P.M., for discussion of matters <br />of potential litigation. <br />Councilman Arnett moved to adjourn the Executive Session and reconvene the Regular <br />Meeting at 9:30 P.M., seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried, <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to authorize City Attorney to take appropriate action to insti- <br />tute legal proceedings to contest the validity of the State Water Quality Control <br />Board "cease and desist" Order No. 70-4, seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried. <br />(MINUTE ORDER #70-71) <br />
