<br />Page 1 of 1 <br />ATTY/RESO.0071/CC RESO ADOPTING POLICIES <br />REV: 08-03-16 FF <br />RESOLUTION NO. ______ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />ADOPTING THE NAMING OF CITY-OWNED LAND AND FACILITIES <br />POLICY, MONUMENT POLICY, AND DONATION, SPONSORSHIP AND <br />CITY-RELATED FOUNDATIONS GRANT POLICY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes that from time to time, the public desires to <br />have City-owned land and facilities, such as parks and athletic fields, named after <br />venerated individuals, geographic features, or prominent organizations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has drafted a policy, entitled Naming of City-Owned Land <br />and Facilities Policy, attached hereto as Exhibit “A” to this resolution, to guide public <br />requests for naming City facilities to enable the process to be applied in a fair, <br />objective, and consistent manner; and <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes that monuments can convey a powerful <br />connection between Redwood City and its history, and in some instances, its future; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City has drafted a policy, entitled Monument Policy, attached <br />hereto as Exhibit “B” to this resolution, to establish criteria and guidelines for the <br />consideration and installation of monuments deemed by the City to be appropriate to <br />serve as the site for a monument; and <br />WHEREAS, the City encourages the City and City-related foundations to <br />pursue donations, sponsorships, and grants with the purpose of creating opportunities <br />for partnerships and enhancing revenue for the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has drafted a policy entitled Donation, Sponsorship, and <br />City-Related Foundations Grant Policy, attached as Exhibit “C” to this resolution, to <br />establish a framework to direct the City in establishing guidelines for acceptance of <br />donations, sponsorships, and City-related foundation grants; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council hereby adopts the Naming of City-Owned Land and <br />Facilities Policy, attached hereto as Exhibit “A”. <br /> <br />2. The City Council hereby adopts the Monument Policy, attached hereto <br />as Exhibit “B”. <br /> <br />3. The City Council hereby adopts the Donation, Sponsorship, and City- <br />Related Foundations Grant Policy, attached hereto as Exhibit “C”. <br /> <br />* * * <br />8.B. - Page 4
