Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of August 1, 2002 <br /> Commission. The Council is still looking at this suggestion and the City <br /> Manager has asked staff to look at various ways to provide this funding to <br /> the Commission. She noted that she will be investigating ways for the <br /> Redevelopment Agency to assist with the Live in Downtown music series for <br /> next year. <br /> Chairperson Dale stated the Commission is interested in increasing our <br /> funding from $1.00 per capita to $1.50 in year one of the budget and $2.00 <br /> the following year. He would like to re-visit the Council in six months with <br /> this proposal depending on the City's revenues. Director Centeno stated that <br /> staff is still waiting for the State budget to be finalized which may not be until <br /> September. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the large grant requests and possible funding <br /> amounts for each and their relationship to the areas highlighted in the <br /> Strategic Plan recently adopted by the Commission. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Del Carlo: To grant $10,000 to Bayshore Lyric Opera. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Kushin/Ball: To grant $5,000 to Montalvo. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Douglas/Kushin: To grant $2,000 to Nova Vista Symphony. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Britschgi: To deny the grant request of Peninsula <br /> Pops. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Douglas/Kushin: To grant $5,000 to Peninsula Symphony. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Kushin/Ball: To grant $1,200 to John Gill School. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Douglas/Kushin: To grant $1,200 to Kennedy School. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Britschgi: To deny the grant request of NorthStar <br /> Academy. <br /> Motion passed.
