Commissioner Lloyd mentioned a police officer used to come to the Veterans <br /> Senior Center once a month to speak to groups but he is no longer available. <br /> Officer Mateo said to contact Officer Ardwan who would be available to speak <br /> senior groups whenever needed. <br /> Chairperson Anthony asked about different types of residential parking <br /> violations and the costs associated with them. Officer Mateo explained that <br /> another Redwood City neighborhood was experiencing similar parking <br /> problems. In order to improve the situation, and before citations were issued, <br /> warning notices were given to residents which listed various types of <br /> violations. Upon receiving the notice, the parking problems in the <br /> nieghborhood decreased. Officer Mateo said he would get this list to <br /> Chairperson Anthony. <br /> Officers Mateo and Garcia explained if a car sits on the street and is not moved <br /> for 5 days, it is considered abandoned according to City ordinance. State <br /> regulations consider it abandoned after 3 days. If the Police Department is <br /> notified about an abandoned car, they tag the car but then must wait an <br /> additional 5 days before it can be towed. Commissioner Jordan asked if the <br /> ordinance was going to be amended due to the Urban Runoff Prevention <br /> Program and Officer Garcia said he was not aware of a change to the current <br /> ordinance. <br /> Library Supervisor Val Hamilton asked about upcoming construction in the <br /> downtown area and if there was going to be a stricter or a more lax <br /> enforcement of parking regulations, and also if the Police Department is <br /> involved in any pre-planning of parking problems as a result of future <br /> construction. Officer Garcia said parking regulations are enforced due to the <br /> overflow of parking which occurs during construction. He said he was not <br /> involved in any pre-planning phase of construction and its impact on <br /> parking. <br /> Commissioner Newell inquired about the response time of 911 calls by the <br /> Police Department. Officer Garcia explained that all incoming calls are <br /> prioritized. Any injury related calls are given a high priority and are also <br /> responded to by the Fire Department. <br /> ITEM 2-PEER COUNSELING UPDATE <br /> Supervisor Mannia explained the training for this program was to begin on <br /> September 12 and five people had expressed an interest in becoming peer <br /> counselors. Due to the extensive time commitment required of the trainees <br /> (6 hours per week for 12 weeks), only two people remain interested in the <br /> program (Noreen Donohue and Marie Smith). She said the training is done <br /> at the County Health Department in San Mateo and it was not convenient for <br /> many of the interested people. Supervisor Mannia invited Delia Moonrider <br />
