There are currently 18,000 to 20,000 people on the <br /> County-wide waiting list which includes families, individuals, and seniors. <br /> During this past year, PHA only had 100 housing slots available. A disabled <br /> senior who is a San Mateo County resident has a higher preference than <br /> someone on the Federal waiting list. Mr. White agreed to send the <br /> Commission a list of low income housing that is available in the County. <br /> Some owners have made disabled modifications to their properties but not <br /> many. <br /> Mr. White noted that he does not know the HUD representative who is <br /> responsible for the Section 221 and 223 programs in this area but Debbi <br /> Jones-Thomas may know who the person is. Chairperson Anthony <br /> explained that the Commission was contacted by seniors in a senior housing <br /> facility who are experiencing problems such as a leaky roof and cable TV <br /> installation and who are afraid to say anything for fear of eviction. Mr. White <br /> suggested sending a letter to HUD advocating on behalf of the families in this <br /> facility to have the repairs made and the Commissioners agreed to send a <br /> letter.
