ITEM 5-COMMISSION WORKPLAN FOR 1995 <br /> The Commissioners discussed holding a December meeting due to the <br /> number of things on the agenda. The December meeting will be held on <br /> December 14 at the Fair Oaks Senior Center. <br /> The following items were suggested as part of the Commission's 1995 <br /> Workplan: <br /> 1.) Take an inventory of senior assets; how to build on these assets; <br /> explain what is City doing to maintain senior centers. <br /> 2.) Have a joint meeting with the Veterans Memorial Senior Advisory <br /> Council (Executive Committee). <br /> 3.) Youth Concerns; seniors need to be informed about school problems and <br /> issues; seniors give to help other seniors; seniors should take in other age <br /> groups also such as children <br /> 4.) Senior Fair - co-sponsor an educational fair for seniors and their families; <br /> provider groups to rent tables <br /> 5.) Housing Concerns-City of San Carlos recently opened a senior housing <br /> project "Laureola Oaks"; meals, snacks, transportation provided; also some <br /> care for seniors with bathing, medication. Have staff research what was done <br /> and how. <br /> 6.) Peer Counseling and Friendly Visitors programs-make them part of the <br /> workplan and formalize <br /> 7.) Transportation-form a committee for the van purchase <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Newell announced the "Technology for Independent Living" <br /> Fair to be held May 19-20, 1995 at Little House in Menlo Park. <br /> -Commissioner Lloyd asked that the following items be placed on the <br /> December agenda: <br /> -Property Tax/Living with Proposition 13 <br /> -Charitable Gift Annuity <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 11:20am to be reconvened at 9:00am on Wednesday, December 14, 1994 to be <br /> held at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
