ITEM 3 - TRANSPORTATION UPDATE Commissioner Anthony reported RediWheels is still not functioning properly and as a result,he will begin attending TRIPS meetings to hopefully affect a change in the paratransit system. Supervisor Griffith reported the Veterans Memorial Senior Center is looking at sponsoring a consumer day in the fall which will include speakers from SamTrans and RediWheels. She reported that Bill Riddle has been hired as the new driver for the Senior Center van. Funds are currently budgeted to provide 2 days of van service. The senior clubs pay for the driver's salary and the City pays for the maintenance of the van. Supervisor Griffith mentioned that if the van program were to be expanded,we would have to look a special funding to pay for this additional expense. ITEM 4- PROGRESS REPORT ON COMMISSION WORKPLAN ASSIGNMENTS Secretary Monroe will produce a chart of the workplan assignments for the Commissioners to review at the July meeting. ANNOUNCEMENTS -Chairperson Lloyd announced the upcoming workshop entitled "Scams" to be held June 24 from 8:OOam-3:OOpm at the Airport Hilton, South San Francisco. The featured speaker will be Emerald Yeh. -Supervisor Griffith agreed to address the Commission at the July meeting on the topic of Alzheimer and dementia. -Commissioner Moran announced she attended a meeting of the Redwood City 2000 group and was very impressed with the program. -Commissioner Capone attended a one day training on May 29 of the Redwood City Leadership Academy which was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. She felt it was a very interesting and worthwhile program. -Commissioner Anthony stated he and Chairperson Lloyd are members of the Citizens Advisory Committee of Facilities for the School District. The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at 4:35pm to be reconvened at 3:00pm on Thursday,July 11, 1996 at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street,Redwood City,California.
