Senior Affairs Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, August 14, 1997 <br /> Commissioner Anthony withdrew Items #8 and #9 from the VMSC Report. <br /> Chairperson Walsh thanked the Committee for their work on the report. Vice <br /> Chairperson Moran said thanked Commissioner Anthony for his hard work on <br /> this project. <br /> ITEM 2 - FY96-97 WORKPLAN REVIEW UPDATES <br /> -Economic Development Lunch Program <br /> Commissioner Harrison reported that 24 people are confirmed for the lunch. <br /> Chairperson Walsh stated he visited 5-6 churches in the community to inform <br /> them of the luncheon and other senior issues such as Medicare. He also <br /> encouraged attendance at Veterans Memorial Senior Center activities. <br /> ITEM 3 - MEDICARE UPDATE <br /> Chairperson Walsh announced that the Commission's letter regarding the <br /> proposed Medicare changes was sent out to our Federal legislators and <br /> members of the Medicare committee. He followed up with phone calls to <br /> Senator Feinstein's and Representative Eshoo's offices. <br /> Chairperson Walsh announced the meeting with Kaiser representatives will be <br /> held on August 29 at 3:00pm. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Vice Chairperson Moran announced Commissioner Anthony is now writing a <br /> column on senior issues for the Redwood City Almanac. <br /> -Superintendent Centeno will contact Finance Director Brian Ponty to have him <br /> speak on the establishment of BFI rates at the October meeting. She suggested <br /> the Commission form a sub-committee to begin developing their FY97-98 <br /> Workplan. No decision was made on this subject. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at 5:07pm <br /> to be reconvened at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 11, 1997 at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
