Superintendent Centeno suggested <br /> that each Commissioner bring another person with them to the next meeting <br /> in order to obtain input for the Sequoia needs assessment. <br /> ITEM 3 — WORKPLAN UPDATES <br /> -Housing, Transportation and Employment <br /> Commissioner Borgens reported on the progress of the sub-committee on <br /> Senior Housing and the draft emergency housing plan document which she <br /> reviewed with the Commission. She noted that the report indicates that <br /> 2,493 affordable housing units are needed in Redwood City but that only <br /> 203 housing units were provided, leaving a need of 2,290 affordable housing <br /> units for our community. Superintendent Centeno announced that Debbi <br /> Jones-Thomas would like to be placed on the April agenda to get the <br /> Commission's input on the draft plan. A copy of the draft document will be <br /> sent to the Commissioners in their April packets. <br /> -Outreach, Public Awareness <br /> Commissioner Nobles provided the Commissioners with a draft copy of an <br /> article she wrote on elder abuse and a letter to Ann Weiss asking for her <br /> review of the article for accuracy. After the article in completed, it will be <br /> forwarded to the Redwood City Almanac for publication. <br /> -Economic Development Luncheons <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh said he contacted the San Mateo County Historical <br /> Museum regarding a docent-lead tour of the facility on a Friday or Saturday <br /> in April. He suggested that the luncheon at Lathrop House following the tour <br /> feature a guest speaker about San Mateo County history. Several <br /> suggestions for possible guest speakers were noted. Chairperson Moran will <br /> check with Lathrop House on providing box lunches for the event. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Chairperson Moran announced the American Legion Outstanding Citizen of <br /> the Year Awards program will be held on Saturday, February 27 at 7:30pm; <br /> tickets are $25.00 per person. Please RSVP to Vince Truscelli if you are <br /> interested in attending. <br /> -Commissioner Nobles invited everyone to a Valentine's Day Dance to be <br /> held on Saturday, February 13 at the Fair Oaks Senior Center from 7:00- <br /> 1 1 :00pm and she passed out tickets to the event. <br /> -Chairperson Moran reported on attending the recent meeting of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Center Senior Advisory Council meeting and noting their monthly <br /> income as a result of bingo and other fundraising events. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 10:50am to be reconvened at 1 :00pm on Thursday, March 11 , 1999 at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
