Senior Affairs Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, June 10, 1999 <br /> -Economic Development Luncheon <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh asked the Commissioners to continue to pass out <br /> luncheon materials and to try to bring several friends to the luncheon. The <br /> luncheon is set for Thursday, June 24 at 1 :00pm at the Fortune Restaurant; <br /> cost is $5.50 per person. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Nobles noted that the Commission's letter about elder abuse <br /> appeared in a recent edition of the Redwood City Independent. She asked <br /> the Commission what else could be done to publicize this issue and it was <br /> suggested that Commissioner Nobles meet with the Police Department to get <br /> information on the issue of elder abuse in Redwood City and report back to <br /> the Commission at its August meeting. <br /> -Commissioner M.Walsh asked if the Commission wanted to take a stand on <br /> gun control; there are currently two bills before the Assembly; the <br /> Commission decided not to do so. <br /> -Chairperson Moran announced a workshop entitled "Staying in Charge- <br /> Managing your Health Care Options" to be held on Monday, June 21 at the <br /> Crowne Plaza in Foster City. This event will be sponsored by the San Mateo <br /> County Board of Supervisors and the San Mateo County Commission on <br /> Aging. <br /> -Commissioner Borgens contacted TCI regarding increased rates and will <br /> report at the August meeting. <br /> -Superintendent Centeno announced the Annual Flea Market at the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center on Saturday, June 26 from 9:OOam-3:OOpm. <br /> -There will be no July meeting of the Commission; the next meeting will be <br /> scheduled for August and will be held at Woodside Terrace. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 2:44pm to be reconvened at 1 :00pm on Thursday, August 12, 1999 at the <br /> Woodside Terrace Retirement Community, 485 Woodside Road, Redwood <br /> City, California. <br />
