She also noted that the Library is doing a needs assessment <br /> in the Redwood Shores community for Library services and perhaps it could <br /> include senior services as well. <br /> ITEM 2 -SENIOR HEALTH CARE ISSUES <br /> -Follow-up on Council Letters to Legislators <br /> Discussed matter under Correspondence. <br /> -Senior Health Issue Resolution for Council Meeting of November 13 <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh provided a copy of the resolution to each of the <br /> Commissioners and stated he asked the City Clerk to send copies to each of <br /> our legislators. Superintendent Centeno announced that item will be <br /> discussed under "Matters of Commission Interest" on November 13 and will <br /> be presented by Councilwoman Barbara Pierce. Commissioner L.Walsh <br /> stated he will be at the Council meeting and invited the other Commissioners <br /> to attend. <br /> ITEM 3 - WORKPLAN UPDATES <br /> -Housing, Transportation, Employment <br /> Commissioner Borgens asked about the plans for low income and senior <br /> housing plans by Shea Homes and a follow up on Redwood Commons. <br /> Superintendent Centeno will check on these items and report back to the <br /> Commission. Commissioner M.Walsh stated that a Redwood Commons <br /> resident reported to her that a one year lease was recently signed by <br /> Redwood Commons. Commissioner Borgens asked about HUD housing and <br /> tenant guidelines, requirements of the property owner and possible <br /> violations. Manager Griffith suggested seniors having these issues report the <br /> matter to TIES or the Police Department. Commissioner Borgens will meet <br /> with Manager Griffith to discuss further. <br /> -Outreach, Public Awareness <br /> The September 2000 activity report for the Fair Oaks Senior Center was <br /> provided to the Commissioners. Superintendent Centeno reported that the <br /> numbers are up from the previous month and that plans are being made to <br /> re-locate various agencies within the Fair Oaks Community Center. <br /> -Economic Development Luncheon <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh reported on the October 12 luncheon featuring guest <br /> speaker Ted Fang. He asked about the future of the luncheon program, <br /> location of future lunches, and possible guest speakers. The Commissioners <br /> felt the lunch was well received and that we should consider using the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center in the future. Manger Griffith felt that some <br /> of the benefits for having the luncheons at the Senior Center were that <br /> people got to visit the Center and see what is offered, and they could become <br /> familiar with the nutrition program.
