The <br /> area behind the Center is also being investigated by the County as a possible <br /> site. Permit parking in the current lot is also being explored. Clarence Juett <br /> inquired about using the Costco parking lot during the lunch hour. Carpool <br /> parking spaces were also discussed. <br /> -Housing <br /> John Dempsey reported the City would host a Housing Symposium on <br /> Saturday, June 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Forester's Hall. Redwood <br /> City has a provision in their housing element stating no "single resident <br /> occupancy". The symposium will present and discuss a wide variety of <br /> housing needs facing Redwood City. <br /> In November 2001, a community conversation on affordable housing for <br /> seniors was held at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center that was very <br /> successful. Another such meeting will be planned within the next few <br /> months and those interested in attending are welcome. Flyers will be posted <br /> when plans are finalized. <br /> Commissioner Grove requested more information about when the Senior <br /> Survey will go out with City Manager Ed Everett's city survey. <br /> -Strategic Planning Committee Update <br /> No report this month. <br /> ITEM 3 - PROGRAM UPDATES <br /> -Fair Oaks Senior Center <br /> Susan Houston reported that the Fair Oaks Community Center's Open House <br /> on May 16, 2002 was a success. Their Mother's Day event was visited by <br /> Channel 7 and televised on the news. May goals were exceeded in the <br /> nutrition and transportation programs. Case management program is at <br /> 200% of goal. Cost of meals will be going up next year. Aging and Adult <br /> Services will help subsidize the program for one year so costs will not be <br /> increased for patrons during that period. Other possible vendors are being <br /> researched for the future. <br /> -Veterans Memorial Senior Center <br /> Manager Griffith reported that in May, 370 rides were provided by the <br /> Center's van. Kaiser pilot project for cooperative transportation with VMSC <br /> continues to be worked on. <br /> The Human Race, held on Saturday, May 11, raised over $12,500.00 which <br /> was $500.00 more than last year. The Hot Summer Nights Dinner Dance <br /> held on June 6 had 65 people in attendance and was enjoyed by all <br /> participants. <br />
