his authorized deputies or representatives . <br /> Building Inspector . The term " Building Inspectors' shall <br /> mean the Building Inspector of the City of Redwood City and <br /> shall include his authorized deputies or representatives . <br /> Septic Tank . The term " septic tanks shall mean a water- <br /> tight receptacle which receives the discharge of a drainage <br /> system, designed and constructed so as to retain solids , <br /> digest organic matter through a period of detention, and to <br /> discharge liquids into the soil outside of the tank through <br /> a system of open joint piping . <br /> SECTION 2 . Except as provided in Section 4 hereof , all plumbing <br /> which receives waste discharge from any building , structure , or <br /> place of business within the corporate limits of the City of <br /> Redwood City shall be connected to a public sewer . <br /> All plumbing receiving waste discharge , which is connected <br /> to a private disposal system at the time of the adoption of this <br /> ordinance or on the effective date of the annexation of the ter- <br /> ritory where such plumbing is located, shall be connected to a <br /> public sewer within nine months after said adoption or effective <br /> date of annexation . <br /> SECTION 3 , It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or cor- <br /> poration to make or cause to be made any connection to a public <br /> sewer or sewer lateral , without first obtaining a written permit <br /> from the Building Inspector and paying the established fees for <br /> such connection, as prescribed by the Redwood City Plumbing Code . <br /> If no sewer lateral exists between the public sewer and the <br /> property line of the property to be served , a sewer lateral will <br /> be installed by the City of Redwood City upon approval of the <br /> required application to the office of the City Engineer .
