<br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , C . G. Lambert , J. M. Eva, E. A.
<br /> Fletcher , R. N. Jones , G. W. McNulty. City Clerk , B . E . Myers . Absent : Councilmen
<br /> L , C . Christensen and P. A. McCarthy.
<br /> The minutes of the meeting of September 3 , 1935 , were approved on motion of Councilman Jones ,
<br /> seconded by Councilman McNulty.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , Emil Dehoff was granted permission
<br /> to inclose within a fence , 25 feet more , fronting on the water , in addition to the amount
<br /> of land already included in his original lease .
<br /> On motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , the Council concurred in the recom-
<br /> mendation of the Planning Commission and granted Julius Smith permission to change lots 6 ,
<br /> g , 9 and 11 , Block 39 ; 6 , g , 10 , 12 , 14 and 16 , Block 44; 3 , 5 , 7 , 9 , 10 , 12 , 14 and 16 ,
<br /> Block 45 , as requested in his petition.
<br /> Although the placing of arterials along Jefferson Avenue and the Woodside Road , as suggested by
<br /> two of the Councilmen at a previous meeting , was not recommended by the Planning Commission ,
<br /> nevertheless , both Councilmen Fletcher and Jones wished to have the matter considered
<br /> further. Accordingly , it was referred back to the City Planning Commission with the request
<br /> that some of the Councilmen be permitted to present arguments in favor of the idea. This ,
<br /> on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Eva, $50 , 00 was appropriated as a contri-
<br /> bution for the work of the Y. M. C .A.
<br /> A Mrs . Dan , living in Redwood Heights , just outside the city limits , asked the Council if anything
<br /> could be done toward helping her secure water service as she was unable to obtain it from the
<br /> White Oaks people . The matter was referred to the City Manager .
<br /> The City Attorney submitted an ordinance changing the names of Myrtle and Hawes Streets , east of
<br /> Jefferson Avenue , and the ordinance was introduced on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded
<br /> by Councilman Eva.
<br /> The City Attorney also submitted an ordinance prohibiting the so-called "pin games" , but the
<br /> matter was referred back to him for revision , to be taken up at the meeting of the Council
<br /> on September 30 .
<br /> Further report on the extension of Hudson Street was laid over until the second meeting in
<br /> October . Action on the Tacoma Mill Company Deed , as well as the Manager ' s recommendation
<br /> for increase of salary , was laid over until the next meeting.
<br /> In its communication the Planning Commission also called attention to the "constant violation
<br /> of the law by Mr. Ruben of Avondale Avenue " . A Mrs . Clements , of Burlingame , made written
<br /> complaint against the building done by Mr. Buben , and also a long letter from Mr. Ruben
<br /> himself was read to the Council , in which he claimed that he had not violated the law and
<br /> that he was acting under difficulties because of the indecision of the Council . After
<br /> considerable discussion in which Mrs . John Gill participated, it was finally decided that
<br /> after the Building Inspector obtained the dimensions of the different buildings that
