<br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br /> OCTOBER 21 , 1935

<br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , C . G. Lambert , J. M. Eva ,
<br /> E. A. Fletcher , R. N. Jones , P. A. McCarthy , Geo . W. McNulty. City Clerk , B . E .
<br /> Myers . Absent : Councilman L. C . Christensen .
<br /> The minutes of the meetings of October 7 and October 14 , 1935 , were approved on motion of
<br /> Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Fletcher .
<br /> John P . Cullen asked for a plumber ' s license , business at 640 Maple Street , and it was
<br /> granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McCarthy.
<br /> Paula C . Weiss asked the Council if anything could be done toward continuing , or extending
<br /> Elm , Cedar and Beech Streets from Hilton Street to Stambaugh Street , and was informed
<br /> that to do this would require the purchase of property , that there was no available
<br /> funds for that purpose and that the project would not be of sufficient general interest
<br /> to form a district for the purpose . It was suggested to her that perhaps she might
<br /> bring up the matter next spring when the following year ' s budget was being considered.
<br /> On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Eva, $50 was appropriated for the
<br /> Girl Scout movement .
<br /> Tommy Cello , Manager of the Wednesday night shows at the Foresters ' Hall , had been asked to
<br /> appear before the Council concerning the nature of the entertainment being nut on and
<br /> also whether or not minors were being sold liquor . He was present and assured the
<br /> Council that the entertainment was unobjectionable and that every effort was made not
<br /> to sell liquor to any minors , and that so-called hard liquor was not being sold at all .
<br /> After filing affidavit of publication , on motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman
<br /> McCarthy , Ordinance No . 364 , relating to the care and expenditure of money received
<br /> from the State and the creating of a special gas tax street improvement fund , was
<br /> adopted unanimously.
<br /> After filing affidavit of publication , on motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman
<br /> Fletcher , Ordinance No . 365 , providing for the issuance of $425 , 000 Investment Bonds , was
<br /> adopted unanimously.
<br /> On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman McNulty , Ordinance extending time
<br /> for the present tax penalties from December 5 , 1935 , to December 5 , 1936 , was introduced.
<br /> Walter S . Sterling , 1125 King Street , Redwood City, filed a claim against the City for damages
<br /> to Graham-Paige automobile on October lg , 1935 , at Hudson Street and Jefferson Avenue ,
<br /> amounting to $27. 04 . As such claims are covered by automobile insurance , on motion of
<br /> Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Jones , the claim was rejected.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McCarthy , the Snnerintendent of
<br /> Streets was instructed to re-paint street names and numbers on curbs where necessary.
<br /> The City Manager was requested to take up on his return from vacation the question of
<br /> locating bicycle racks on Broadway.
<br /> On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to recommend
<br /> to the Planning; Commission that consideration be given to re-zoning parts of El Camino
