164 <br /> The City Manager filed formal resignation , effective December 1 , and upon motion of <br /> Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , his resignation was accepted <br /> and a vote of thanks from the Council members given him for his service . <br /> In connection with the selling or leasing of property in certain residential districts <br /> to orientals or negroes , on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman <br /> McCarthy , the Laity Attorney was instructed to write a letter to real estate <br /> agents in Redwood City asking their cooperation toward eliminating this situation. <br /> Further discussion of the Buben matter was laid over until the next meeting . <br /> In a written communication the Chamber of Commerce asked the City to assume the res- <br /> ponsibility of decorating the streets for the Christmas Holidays . Chief Ryan , <br /> of the Fire Department , was asked to estimate the cost of stringing electric <br /> lights on the principal streets and also to find out what could be done for <br /> providing greens for the decorations. <br /> Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen , proposed the adoption of the <br /> following resolution which was unanimously carried: <br /> RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br /> that E. A. ROLISON , CITY MANAGER , and C . L. DIMMITT , CITY ENGINEER , <br /> be and they are hereby authorized to sign , on behalf of the City of <br /> Redwood. City, the agreement with the Department of Public Works , <br /> Division of Highways , State of California , concerning the expendi- <br /> ture of the 1/4 cent Highway Fund allocated to the City for the <br /> present biennium, 1935-37. <br /> It was decided to do nothing at present toward selecting a City Manager as successor <br /> to E. A. Rolison , and for the interim , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded <br /> by Councilman McNulty , C . L. Dimmitt , City Engineer , was appointed Manager pro tem. <br /> The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by <br /> Councilman Fletcher. <br /> Adjournment . <br /> G i 7 Pt <br /> City Clerk <br /> BEM: MR <br />
