113
Mayor Lambert reported that the committee on re-assessment of acreage within the City had gone into
this matter but was not ready to report definitely at this meeting . However , he stated that a
complete report would very likely be ready by the second meeting in March , March Ig , at which
time the matter could be taken up.
Wayne R. Millington addressed the Council concerning the desirability of a soft ball diamond for
those who wish to play at night and advocated some arrangement to have such a diamond lighted.
Paul Lowe followed. presenting Resolution from the Fraternal Order of Eagles petitioning the City
to install lights for a soft ball field. Roy Hohberger , Y. M . C .A. Secretary , outlined the acti-
vity among the men of the community , also asking if something could be done toward_ lighting
such a field. It was admitted that it would be inconsistent to place any such equipment on
the High School grounds , but that perhaps it could be handled on the newly acquired Horace
Hawes Park site . It was finally decided that a committee consider what could be done and work
with the City Manager toward that end. The aforementioned speakers were asked to serve with
Councilman Eva , Christensen and Fletcher on said committee .
Walter Noble , representing the Peninsula Stores , Ltd. , asked the Council if something could be done
toward a Sunday closing ordinance for stores . He was assured that the Council looked with favor
upon such a proposal . It was intimated that the Chamber of Commerce was working on the same
project so the matter was deferred until the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce reported.
W. L. Cavanaugh , Agent for the Pacific Greyhound Lines , explained that he had opened an office at
767 El Camino Real and requested permission to place a bench or seat on the sidewalk in front
of the office and that an extra place on the highway be reserved as a stopping place for the
busses . Permission , in line with his request , was granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher ,
seconded by Councilman Eva.
On motion of Councilman Pletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty , the Clerk was asked to convey to
the Pacific Gas & Electric Company the thanks of the Council for the company ' s donation of
power during the holiday season.
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman
Fletcher .
Adjournment .
4) Et
City Clerk
BEM :MR
