The Clerk read a letter from the League of California Municipalities , by Richard Graves , Secretary ,
property under what is known as single tax , that is , the entire tax would fall on the land
only . On motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Jones , the Council went on record
as being opposed to the repeal of the sales tax in consideration of the result which would
follow.
A second point made by Mr. Graves was a discussion of the mandatory Civil Service proposal ,
and the Council went on record as opposing such Civil Service proposal for cities the size
of Redwood City , on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman McCarthy.
Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman McCarthy , moved the introduction of ordinance
