H. <br /> Upon roll call , the foll. o ing Councilmen were present : Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , L. C . <br /> Christensen , E . A. Pletcher , Wm. Hohn , R. Y. Jones , G. W. McNulty and City Clerk , <br /> B . E . Myers . Absent : Councilman J . M . Eva ( came in at 10 o ' clock) . <br /> The minutes of the meetings of October 5 and October 13 , 1936 , were approved as mailed <br /> on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Fletcher . <br /> The City Manager submitted a letter Showing the appointment , as n Harbor Advisory <br /> Committee , of Elmore B . Hinman , Nelson A . Andrews , A. B . Cheatham , H . W. Edmonds <br /> and Elmer A. Murrell , and indicated that it was his intention to have them <br /> appointed as a Board of Port Commissioners when the Amendment to the Charter <br /> was officially ratified by the Legislature . On motion of Councilman Jones , se- <br /> condecl by Councilman Christensen , the recommendation of the City Manager was <br /> concurred in by the Council , and the Clerk was instructed to notify the men of <br /> their appointment . <br /> In a letter to the Council , the Planning Commission made the following recommendations : <br /> (1 ) That Lot 6 , Block 7 , Oak Knoll Manor be resubdivided to make two lots of <br /> equal frontage on Hillviev Avenue . ( 2) That Mr . Werder be permitted to make <br /> chances in the Holt property made necessary by street widening activities on El <br /> Camino Real . ( 3 ) That the zoning ordinance be amended to read that no Nursery <br /> Schools be permitted in the first class residential district , that they be per- <br /> ; mitted only in a second class residential district . ( 4E) That Rogers Street be <br /> opened for traffic between the Bayshore Highway and El Camino Real and that pro- <br /> visions for paving of this street be made at the earliest date possible ; also that <br /> the Deed given by the Tacoma. Mill Company be recorded. <br /> In connection with the recommendation about legislation regulating private schools in <br /> the residential sections of Redwood City , Mayor McCarthy , with the approval of the <br /> Council , appointed a committee to draft appropriate legislation regarding the <br /> definition and location of private schools in Redwood City. The members of the <br /> committee appointed were Councilman_ Eva , as Chairman , Councilmen McNulty and Sohn , <br /> the City Attorney and a member of the Planning Commission , Mr . Doxsee being <br /> suggested. <br /> On motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Hohn , the Council went on <br /> record as being; opposed to Amendment No . 7 , known as the Civil Service Amendment . <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , a resolution was <br /> adopted accepting en Easement from the Lenolt Securities Corporation , dated Octo- <br /> ber 5 , 1936 , over a 5-ft . strip extending through Lot 21 , Block 7 , of the Highlands <br /> of Emerald Lake , and also a 5-ft . strip extending through Lot 9 , Block 7 , Highla,r_ds <br /> of Emerald Lake . <br /> In connection with the acceptance of Deed from the Tacoma Mill Company for right-of-way <br /> for the extension of Rogers Street , Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman <br />
