M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , L . C . Chris- <br /> tensen , J. M . Eva , E . A. Fletcher , R. N. Jones , G. W. McNulty and City Clerl ,B . E. <br /> Myers . Absent : Councilman Wm. Hohn. <br /> This was the time set for discussion with representatives from the Southern Pacific Comnany <br /> of the railroad crossing traffic situation. Messrs . R. D . Moore and F. L. Guy were <br /> present to represent the company. After considerable discussion , Councilman Eva , <br /> seconded by Councilman McNulty , proposed the adoption of the following resolution <br /> which was unanimously carried. <br /> RESOLVKD by the Council of the City of Redwood City that request <br /> be made to the Southern Pacific Company , according to agreement reached with <br /> representatives from said. Company at a regular adjourned meeting of the <br /> Council , for traffic lights , devices , and protective appliances of the types <br /> hereinbelow mentioned to be installed in the manner and at the railroad <br /> crossings set forth below : <br /> 1 . Brewster Avenue - no change from present arrangement . <br /> 2. Spruce Street - no change from present arrangement . <br /> 3 . Rogers Street - the present protective appliances to remain but <br /> the wig-wag signal to be changed from arm suspension to top of <br /> mast in lower position. <br /> 4+ . Broadway - installation of two rotating stop flashing light <br /> signals equipped with second train indicators , manually <br /> controlled between 6 a. m, to 12 midnight , and operated <br /> automatically from 12 midnight to 6 a. m. ; Southern Pacific <br /> Company to furnish for flagman distinctive uniforms , pre- <br /> ferably white Sam Brown Belt uniform; Redwood City to <br /> install flood lights . <br /> 5. Jefferson 'Avenue - same type of signal as for Broadway and <br /> operating automatically except when controlled by watchman <br /> at Broadway. <br /> 6. Main Street - same as Broadway. <br /> 7 . Maple Street -- 2 sets of signals same as Broadway but auto- <br /> matically operated. <br /> S . Chestnut Street - an additional wigwag and two 2-train indi- <br /> cators , same as Rogers Street . <br /> The City Tax Collector submitted letter reading as follows : <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> Redwood City , California <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> On April 7 , 1937 , I was authorized by Mr. J . M. Eva to accept <br /> $1 , 300 . 48 instead of $1 , 465. 64 as was actually due if the amounts were <br /> paid in full , as follows : <br /> Arb . Blk. 120 , Lot 17 , Total Delinquency $ 332. 66 <br /> Cancel one-half of Bond Penalty 26 . 48 <br /> Paid April 15 , 1937 $ 306 . 1g <br /> Arb . Blk. 97 , Lot 13 , Total Delinquency $1 ,026 . 13 <br /> Cancel Bond Penalty 122 . 55 <br /> Paid April 21 , 1937 $ 903. 5S <br /> Arb .
