319 <br /> devices had been considered by the Council for over a year and that the <br /> Council w9s trying to do that which seemed most desirable . <br /> There was presented 1 petition signed by some 100 people requesting the Council to <br /> have erected on electric stop signal at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue <br /> and El Camino Real for the convenience of residents and the safety of <br /> children. The City Manager was instructed to take up the matter with the <br /> Highway Commission to see whether or nor a manually operated signal in use <br /> during certain hours only could be arranged. <br /> The City Attorney was asked to write the State Finance Officer Stockburger , con- <br /> cerning title to the Union Cemetery. <br /> A Mr . King appeared before the Council concerning group accident and health in- <br /> surance for City employees by arrangement with the Etna Life Insurance <br /> Company. The matter was referred to a committee consisting of Councilmen <br /> Eva , Fletcher, Christensen , and Mayor McCarthy. <br /> Ordinance No . 399 , An ordinance Naming Certain Streets in the City of Redwood City, <br /> was formally adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Council- <br /> man Hahn . <br /> In connection with Resolution of Intention 1937-3 , Hillview proceedings , on motion <br /> of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Eva , there were filed Affidavit <br /> of Street Superintendent , C . L. Dimmitt , and also Lisle Winter covering the <br /> posting of notices for this work. Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman <br /> McNulty, proposed the adoption of resolution ordering the work done under <br /> Resolution of Intention 1937-3 . Carried. <br /> C . G. Uhlenberg , Special City Auditor , presented copies of his annual report to <br /> the Council , and also submitted a letter in which he stated that the work <br /> had cost him considerably more than the $425 agr :ted upon and explained that <br /> the extra work was due to 1915 Act refinancing and other activities of the <br /> administration . He , therefore , asked that the Council approve payment of <br /> $500 for his work covering the past fiscal year , and he also asked that <br /> he be reappointed for the ensuing fiscal year at the rate of $500 for the <br /> year ' s work. Upon motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman <br /> Christensen , Mr . Uhlenberg was reappointed for the ensuing year at a price <br /> of $500 with the understanding that his fee for the past fiscal year be <br /> made the same amount : namely, $500. <br /> The Health Officer reported concerning the boarding home for children at Jeter <br /> and Hopkins , and he was asked to find out how many children actually sleep <br /> at this location . <br /> The appointment of someone to the Planning Commission was laid over until another <br /> meeting. <br />
