319 devices had been considered by the Council for over a year and that the Council w9s trying to do that which seemed most desirable . There was presented 1 petition signed by some 100 people requesting the Council to have erected on electric stop signal at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and El Camino Real for the convenience of residents and the safety of children. The City Manager was instructed to take up the matter with the Highway Commission to see whether or nor a manually operated signal in use during certain hours only could be arranged. The City Attorney was asked to write the State Finance Officer Stockburger , con- cerning title to the Union Cemetery. A Mr . King appeared before the Council concerning group accident and health in- surance for City employees by arrangement with the Etna Life Insurance Company. The matter was referred to a committee consisting of Councilmen Eva , Fletcher, Christensen , and Mayor McCarthy. Ordinance No . 399 , An ordinance Naming Certain Streets in the City of Redwood City, was formally adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Council- man Hahn . In connection with Resolution of Intention 1937-3 , Hillview proceedings , on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Eva , there were filed Affidavit of Street Superintendent , C . L. Dimmitt , and also Lisle Winter covering the posting of notices for this work. Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed the adoption of resolution ordering the work done under Resolution of Intention 1937-3 . Carried. C . G. Uhlenberg , Special City Auditor , presented copies of his annual report to the Council , and also submitted a letter in which he stated that the work had cost him considerably more than the $425 agr :ted upon and explained that the extra work was due to 1915 Act refinancing and other activities of the administration . He , therefore , asked that the Council approve payment of $500 for his work covering the past fiscal year , and he also asked that he be reappointed for the ensuing fiscal year at the rate of $500 for the year ' s work. Upon motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Christensen , Mr . Uhlenberg was reappointed for the ensuing year at a price of $500 with the understanding that his fee for the past fiscal year be made the same amount : namely, $500. The Health Officer reported concerning the boarding home for children at Jeter and Hopkins , and he was asked to find out how many children actually sleep at this location . The appointment of someone to the Planning Commission was laid over until another meeting.
