331 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR NEETIFG <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUN TI L <br /> OCTOBER 4 , 1937 <br /> 8 : 00 P. M <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor Paul A. McCarthy, <br /> Councilmen L. C . Christensen , J. M. Eva , R . N. Jones , Nm. Hohn , and G. W. <br /> McNulty, and City Clerk B . E. Myers . <br /> The minutes of the meetings of September 20, 27, and 28 were approved on motion <br /> of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Christensen . <br /> Members of the Harbor Opening Festival Committee appeared to make a final re- <br /> port to the Council . Frank DePatta , general chairman , with Robert O ' Connell <br /> and Charles Lambert were present . Mr . O ' Connell presented to the Council <br /> the records of the committee . Mr. Lambert presented a check to the Council <br /> for $552 . 04 , which the committee was able to save out of the City ' s contri- <br /> bution of $1 , 000 . The members of the committee were warmly thanked by the <br /> Council in appreciation of their efforts in connection with the Harbor <br /> Opening Festival , <br /> A Mr . Sam Dietrich asked permission to erect a service station at the north <br /> east corner of El Camino Real and Hopkins Avenue , but was informed his re- <br /> quest should be placed before the Planning Commission . <br /> Charles T . Benjamin , attorney for a county association of retail clerks , pro- <br /> posed that the City adopt an ordinance regulating the closing of certain <br /> stores . The ordinance we s referred to the City Attorney. <br /> W. 0. Tyson requested an extension of time for the completion of his contract <br /> at the Harbor . He asked 30 days from the present limit of October 15 , and <br /> or motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilmen Christensen , the <br /> time for the completion of the contract was extended to November 15 , in- <br /> eluding a waiver of penalty for the same period . <br /> On motion of ' Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Eva , there was ordered <br /> filed affidavit of posting notice inviting sealed proposals , and also <br /> affidavit of the publication of notice inviting sealed proposals . Follow- <br /> ing this , the bids for doing the work under Resolution of Intention 1937-3 <br /> were opened , with the following results : <br /> Palo Alto Road Materials Co . 4 , 743 . 57 <br /> Grant and Hoffman 3 , 992 . 56* <br /> w. , 0. Tyson 4 , 107. 59 <br /> H. L. Sanders 4 , 432 . 25 <br /> Piazza & Huntley 4 , 141 . 34 <br /> *ITEM 1 . For all Grading-Cutting , the sum of forty two (42 ) cents per <br /> cubic yard . <br /> ITEM 2 . For all Grading-Filling , the sum of five ( 5 ) cents per <br /> cubic yard. <br /> ITEM 3 . For constructing complete cement concrete combined curb and <br /> gutter 24 inches wide the sum of eighty three ( 83 ) cents <br /> per linear foot of combined curb and gutter . <br /> ITEM 4 . For constructing complete the asphaltic armor coat , stabilized <br /> slurry base pavement five inches in thickness as specified <br /> the sum of eleven and 4/10 ( 11 . 4 ) cents per square foot . <br />
