337 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR ARBOOMMW MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> NOVEMBER 1 , 1937 <br /> 8 : 00 P . M. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen , <br /> J . M . Eva , E . A. Fletcher , Wm. Hohn , R. N. Jones , G . W. McNulty , yAayor Paul A. <br /> McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E . Myers . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of October 1S were approved on motion of Councilman Eva, <br /> seconded by Councilman Fletcher . <br /> Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Jones , proposed the adoption of the following <br /> resolution , which was unanimously carried : <br /> "RESOLVED , that the City of Redwood City insure such of its employees <br /> as desire to be insured and who are acceptable to the Aetna Life Insurance <br /> Company of Hartford , Connecticut , in a plan of Group Health and Accident <br /> Insurance . The City of Redwood City to pay the entire first month ' s premium <br /> and thereafter to pay approximately 400 of the monthly premium . <br /> " It is further resolved that the City Clerk hereby be authorized to <br /> sign such papers as are necessary in completing the above transaction . " <br /> Councilman Fletcher , for the Committee on Termite Control , asked to have the report <br /> continued. <br /> The City Manager submitted to the Council a letter reading as follows : <br /> " In re : Docket No . Calif. 1W45-D , Contract No . 1 , Redwood City Harbor . <br /> I have this day given the final inspection to the construction of the <br /> wharf and transit shed at Redwood City Harbor undertaken by Healy- <br /> Tibbitts Construction Company as contractor and have found the work <br /> completed in accordance with the plans and specifications to my entire <br /> satisfaction. " <br /> On motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the Council <br /> ratified the action of the City Manager . <br /> The City Manager also submitted a letter concerning the completion of contract of <br /> W . O . Tyson , but consideration was laid over until the next meeting. <br /> Pursuant to instructions from the Council , the City Manager filed a report concerning <br /> the experience of the City of Palo Alto in obtaining underpasses and discussed <br /> the subject generally for Redwood City , but no action was taken , other than to <br /> put ahead further discussion to the first meeting in December. In the meanwhile , <br /> the entire subject will be studied by a committee composed of Councilman <br /> Christensen , as chairman , and Councilmen McNulty and Eva. <br /> Councilman Jones , supported in his statement by other commuters , called attention to <br /> the inconvenient and dangerous situation existing at the Southern Pacific Station. <br /> It was shown that passengers going to San Francisco have to cross the tracks <br /> from the station and wait for the train on the north-easterly side of the tracks; <br /> that the intervening space was not properly paved , and that to stand on the <br /> opposite side and wait for the trains in the rain would not be desirable . <br /> Finally , after considerable discussion , Councilman Jones , seconded by Council- <br /> man McNulty , proposed that the City Manager be instructed to take up this matter <br /> with the Southern Pacific Company , and demand the pavement be completed between <br />
