362 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> DECEMBER 6 , 1937 <br /> 5 : 00 P, M. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen , <br /> J . M. Eva , E . A. Fletcher , Win . Kohn , R . N. Jones , Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , and <br /> City Clerk B . E . Myers ; absent , Councilman G . W. Mciulty . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of November 15 and special meeting of November 29 were <br /> approved on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Fletcher . <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , it was decided to con- <br /> tribute $15 to the San Mateo County Tuberculosis and Health Association. <br /> The City Tax Collector asked authority to accept $262 . 26 in payment of taxes and <br /> assessments on the southeast portion of Lot 12 , Block 1 , New High School Acres , <br /> belonging to Richard Hartir_ , the total of which , according to her letter , was <br /> $29 + . 7 7 . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Jones , she <br /> was authorized to accent a check for the amount mentioned . <br /> The United Veterans were given permission to hold a New Year ' s Eve dance in the <br /> Veterans Hall , without fee , up to 2 A. M . , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones . <br /> In a letter to the Council , Henry Witte , insurance agent , nroposed that the City <br /> engage the services of an appraiser for the purpose of ascertaining the -Proper <br /> valuation to be put on city owned property . Mr. Witte also suggested that the <br /> new insurance necessitated by the port building be divided equally among the <br /> following companies : <br /> a) National. Fire Insurance Company <br /> b ) The Hartford Fire Insurance Company <br /> c ) The Firemans Find Insurance Company <br /> On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Jones , the City Manager <br /> was authorized to have this appraisal made at the suggested maximum figure of <br /> $100 , and also that the new insurance be divided as recommended by Mr . Witte <br /> and Mr . Fletcher of the Insurance Committee . <br /> A request for the installation of certain bill boards was discussed but laid over <br /> until the next meeting . <br /> There was filed a letter from the City Tax Collector concerning assessed valuations <br /> on Quartz Street and other nearby streets . No action was taken. <br /> There was read a letter from the Division of Highways by John H. Skeggs , District <br /> Engineer , indicating engineering studies and a traffic count had been made at <br /> the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and El Camino Real and that the result of <br /> this study did not indicate that automatic signals should be placed at that <br /> intersection. Submission of new request by the City Manager was authorized. <br />
