On motion of Councilman Fletcher ,
seconded by Councilman Hohn , permit was granted with the understanding that the
bear would be located under the supervision of the City Manager .
The City Planning Commission filed a letter indicating that by unanimous agreement it
recommended to the Council that there be no increase in the number of advertising
panels in Redwood City . Carried .
In a communication to the Council , Redwood City Lodge No . 1112 , Loyal Order of Moose ,
requested permission to use the building at g06 Arguello Street for lodge hall and
club rooms . At first it was thought satisfactory to grant permission provided the
repairs and alterations were done subject to the approval of the Building Inspector ,
but after further discussion , it was thought best to send notice to the owners and
occupants of premises within 275 feet of this building to ask them whether or not
they wished to make protest to the Council against the use of the building for the
purpose of a lodge and club room . It was so decided on motion of Councilman McCarthy ,
seconded by Councilman McNulty .
In a letter to the Council , Arthur W. Brouillet , attorney in San Francisco , inquired
about lots owned by the Moxey Realty Company and what progress had been made toward
cleaning up the transaction. On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Council-
man Hohn , the clerk was told to explain to Mr . Brouillet that definite action would
be taken at once and the treasurer was authorized to make the necessary payment .
Joe Farr explained that the Veterans of Foreign Wars were to have a state convention in
San Jose June 12 to 15 and that it would be an opportune time for the city to enter
a float in the parade . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman
McNulty , the matter was referred to the City Manager to take up with the Publicity
Committee of the Chamber of Commerce .
The City Attorney reported that he had succeeded in continuing Wharf Street as a public
way and that any sale of the property now known as the Gardiner property would be
subject to easement in favor of the City . On motion of Councilman Anderson , seconded.
by Councilman McNulty , the attorney was instructed to see Mr. Fromm and ask him for
an easement covering the other side of this small street .
The committee of the Council which met with members of the library board reported that
the joint conference recommended the employment as architects for the new library
building the firm of Miller and Warnecke assisted by W. R. Yelland , all of Oakland.
