394 <br /> The City Attorney read and explained a letter from James H . Mitchell pertaining to the <br /> -preparation of plans for the new library and his charges as an a.rc':itect . The <br /> Attorney also read and explained the proposed contract to be entered into by and <br /> between the City and Mr . Mitchell . The Council approved the wording of the con- <br /> tract , and on motion of Councilman Anderson , seconded by Council •Aan McCarthy , <br /> the City Manager inns authorized to execute it . <br /> Councilman Fletcher spoke About the work beine; done by Cantain Bosshardt and indicated <br /> that the gentleman would appreciate a little financial help . In order to have the <br /> situation a little bit more clearly before the Council , Mayor Christensen .annointed <br /> Council aian Fletcher and Anderson as a cawittee to investigate nnd report . <br /> Councilman McCarthy reported concernin,, conversations and correspondence with Mr . Young- <br /> berg pertaining to the advisability of investing surplus city funds and read to <br /> the Council certain recommendations made by Mr . Youngberg^ . It was decided , on <br /> motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , that the City <br /> Treasurer buy , through the local post office , $10 , 000 par value U . S . Savings <br /> Bonds , and that he arrange through Stone & Youngberg to have our. chased for the <br /> City account $10 , 000 -oar value United States Treasury 2 : ' s due in 1948 , and $10 , 000 <br /> War value Redwood City Uunicitals of 1q37 . <br /> The departmental reoorts were ordered filed . <br /> The City Manager submitted for special consideration a bill of 'tl , 010 . -3 for uniforms <br /> in favor of Serbin ' s Uniform and Celt Manufacturing Co . of San Francisco , and this <br /> cla.i .n was specifically approved on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Council- <br /> man McCarthy . In connection with this data the City Manager explained that the <br /> Serbin -people had assigned the entire claim to L . & M. Glaser , San Francisco , the <br /> evidence of which assignment would be attached to the claim .
