MINTUT S 02 R=GULAR MEET IA. <br /> REDWOOD CITY COThCIL <br /> June 20 , 197g <br /> Upon roll call the following were present : Councilmen Haroll F . Anderson , E . A. Fletcher , Wm . <br /> Hohn , Robert N. Jones , Paul A. McCarthy , George T . McNulty , Mayor L . C . Christensen;, ab- <br /> sent , and Clerk B . E . i yers . <br /> Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Council en Fletcher , and carried , Councilman <br /> Anderson was elected Clerk pro tern. <br /> The minutes of the meetinc' of June 6 , 1938 , were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman Arderson and carried. <br /> Mr. May Leonard spoke about the loss of the Sea Scout Regatta, to the Redwood City Yacht Harbor <br /> and upon motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded. by Councilman Fletcher and carried , it <br /> vras ordered that a communication be sent to the Scout headquarters in Los Angeles exnressing <br /> regret over the loss of Redwood City not o eing selected for the Scout Regatta this yeas; <br /> said communication further to ask the Scout headquarters whether or not the loss of the Sea, <br /> Scout Regatte 7as due to any lack of hospitality or facilities sutnlie d by Redwood City. <br /> James M. Eva anoeared and requested a nerrnit to divide his lot on the northeast corner of Elwood <br /> and Brewster Streets. Councilman Fletcher moved that the nerrnit requested by James M. Eva <br /> be granted subject to the approval of the Planning Coi:mission. As there was no second to the <br /> motion it was lost . <br /> Mr. Thomas Nelson appeared before the Council relative to a permit to build upon Lot 9 in Lexing- <br /> ton Park and after a discussion by the Council , upon motion of Councilman Fletcher , second- <br /> ed by Councilman McCarthy) the permit requested by Mr . Nelson was granted. <br /> Mr . Cheatham applied for a permit to construct a building on the Southern. Pacific nronerty west of <br /> Rogers Street , After a discussion of the matter by the Council by motion of Councilman <br /> Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Anderson and carried , the nermit was granted. <br /> -Tile Friendly Acres Annexation matter was taken up and a- letter was nresented by the City Manager <br /> sho Ting that the number of protests ragainst the annexation did not include a majority of the <br /> parcels included within the territory proposed to be annexed. The City Attorney reported <br /> es requested at the nrev i ous meeting of the Council that after his exeminati on of the lcnv <br /> he was of the opinion that the ennexa.ti. on of the territory could not be maintained or vali- <br /> dated by mason of the fact that a ten foot strip of Bay Roar- connected the present city lim- <br /> its with the nronosed Friendly Acres territory , a distance of practically e mile. The Council <br /> unnn this reco:r.: enda.tion decided to take no further ection hi the matter. <br /> Mr. J . B . Oswald aopeared and asked nerrnission to construct a, house on the north half of lot 86 , <br /> :;Wellesley Park , no hart of said house to be within thirty feet of the property line excepting <br /> a.n "La shown upon the plans submitted , provided Mr. Drethman , the Building Inspector , as- <br /> certained in writing froh the owner on the northwest side of said lot that there was no ob- <br /> jection to the granting of said oer.:.it . A motion to this effect "^as made by Councilman McCarthy , <br /> and seconded. by Councilman Fletcher and carried. <br />
