78 such contribution. On motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McCarthy , the City Clerli was authorized to inform the Bank of America that by proper resolution , C . G. Lambert as present Mayor , was authorized to have access to the city ' s safe deposit box along with the City Treasurer . A letter from the Mayor of South San Francisco pertaining to the desirability of giving pre- ference to San Mateo County products in all local work was referred to the City Attorney. On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , permit was given to conduct a pool hall and cigar stand at 22 -P4 El Camino Real to Jose Arce . Mr . Henry Witte , representing the Redwood City District Real Estate Board , asked the Council to again take a half page ad in the Real Estate Association Magazine . However , it was the judguent of the Council that this item be dispensed with for the present year and the communication was ordered filed. At the request of the City Attorney, the City Clerk read a note from Messrs . David and Mitchell , Special Counsel in connection with the Lakeport Case involving 1915 Act Bonds . Councilman Fletcher proposed and moved the adoption of a resolution which demanded the ( 1 ) consolidation of the offices of City Manager , City Engineer , and Building Inspector at a salary of $300 , ( 2) provision that the county take over the assessment and collection of city taxes , (3 ) reduction of the salaries of City Clerk and City Treasurer , City Attorney , and heads of departments and ( •) requested that all mercantile establishments in Redwood City receive like consideration in the purchase of city supplies . Councilman Eva in seconding the resolution stated that such action would save the city mztny thousands of dollars . Councilman Jones , Mayor Lannert and Councilman McCarthy spoke on the resolu- tion and the latter went to some length to explain that it was hardly fair to expect the members of the Council to vote intelligently on the resolution without having had time to study the proposal in which statement he had the approval of the other members of the Council . Councilman McCarthy finally moved that the resolution be amended in order that action on it be postponed until the first meeting in June , at which time the presentation of the bi dget by the City Manager would be made and due consideration could be given to the various items to be incorporated in the budget setup . His motion was seconded by Councilman McNulty and was carried with Councilmen Eva and Fletcher voting "No" . Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty offered and moved the adoption of resolution which in due form accepted the P .W .A. Project , Docket No . 1954 , construction by W . J. Tobin of an 8 inch cast iron pipe line and reinforced concrete reservoir in the Emerald Lake district . Unanimously carried. The departmental reports were ordered filed.
