76
of a plan for dealing with the delinquencies of the 1915 Act Irrorovement bonds . Unani-
mously carried.
Councilman C!,ristensen read a resolution in connection with special meetings of the City
Council , specifically stating; that the City Council be subject to call for special
meetings to be held on any week day in the Council chambers of the Fire Nall and be open
to the public . The resolution was proposed for adoption by Councilman Eva and seconded
by Councilman Fletcher . In the discussion Councilman McCarthy su gested that some time
be specified as to the notice of special meetings and thought that a two day ' s notice
would be right . Upon consent of the proposer and the second to the motion , the resolu-
tion was adopted unanimously .
Councilman Fletcher read a resolution embodying a copy of an editorial appearing in the
Redwood City Tribune, Wednesday, May 9 , 1934, entitled " City Must Not Surrender to
Power Trust Dictate " . The resolution stated that the editorial questioned the good
faith of the three new members of the Council , that the purpose of the editorial was
to becloud the issue regarding city economy , and was a brazen attempt to influence the
members of the Council with regard to the conduct of city affairs . The resolution re-
quested specifically that the Redwood City Tribune be invited to present to the Council
any information purporting to show any improper connection between any member of the
Council in any person , firm, corporation or association , and that the City Isanager also
be extended an opportunity to give to the Council any information regarding said edi-
torial which he might desire. Following some discussion the proposal was put to vote
and upon roll call the proposal was lost by the following vote : Ayes and in favor of
the passage of the resolution : Councilmen Christensen, Eva and Fletcher. Noes and
against the resolution : Councilmen Jones , McCarthy , McNulty and Mayor Lambert .
W . J. Dusel appeared and asked the Council to reconsider its decision concerning, the half
page ad in the Real Estate Magazine but nothing further was done.
Councilman McCarthy presented and moved the adoption of a resolution requesting the County
Board of Supervisors to allocate to the City of Redwood City, from the gas tax moneys ,
a certain share of the amount received by the County. Councilman Christensen , seconded
the proposal and the resolution was unanimously carried.
The approved claims were ordered paid. on motion of Councilman HcNulty , seconded by Councilman
Jones .
Adjournment .
City Clerk
3m :MR
7 I
