1Q4 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> • a01 MOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> DECEMBER 17 , 193' <br /> 8 : 00 P . M . �t <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : l mayor , C . G . Lambert , L. C. Christensen , <br /> J. M. Eva , E. A. Fletcher , R. Y. Jones , P . A. McCarthy , Geo . W . McNulty , City Clerk, <br /> B . E. Myers . Absent : None . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of December 3 , 1934 , were approved on motion of Councilman McCarttq , <br /> seconded by Councilman Eva . <br /> In connection with a letter from Hall , Marquardt & Company of Los Angeles , offering $9 , 000 <br /> of Bonds , Series L, at a price of 70 , the discussion brought out that the Council members <br /> were somewhat in doubt as to the advisability of making such a purchase , but did ask the <br /> Treasurer to ascertain if the clients of this bondhouse would be willing to offer the <br /> bonds at 6o . <br /> The Clerk read a copy of a resolution passed and adopted by the Board of Supervisors of San <br /> Mateo County , December 10 , in which the Board requested the State Highway Commission to <br /> commence at the earliest date possible the construction of the Ocean Shore Highway and <br /> asking that the City Councils of the County of San Mateo follow the example of the Board <br /> of Supervisors and ask the State Highway Commission to proceed with this work. Following <br /> a discussion , Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , offered the following re- <br /> solution for adoption which was carried unanimously . <br /> VWIEREAS it is understood state and federal funds have been appro- <br /> priated for the construction of the Ocean Shore Highway , and <br /> WHEREAS , the construction of this highway will create work for the <br /> unemployed and bring highway facilities to that portion of the Counties <br /> affected , <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the <br /> State Highway Commission be , and it is now , requested to commence the con- <br /> struction of the Ocean Shore Highway as soon as possible . <br /> The Council assured the City Treasurer that it was desired to continue with the Travelers <br /> Insurance Company , the group insurance arrangement which has been in existence in Redwood <br /> City for some years . <br /> In a communication to the Council , H. A. Beeger , Trustee for the Creditors of the F . K. Towne <br /> Estate , asked for an appropriation of $300 as the city ' s share of the delinquent and <br /> current taxes on the real property held in trust . The Clerk was instructed to write <br /> Mr . Beeger that the city would likely contribute its share provided all the other credi- <br /> tors would participate pro rata , and that the judgment of the Council members was that <br /> the Dumbarton Bridge stock would be disposed of and the proceeds applied toward the pay-- <br /> anent` of these taxes . <br /> Ordinance fixing the license rates for gas fitters , etc , was brought up for final adoption <br /> but was continued until the next meeting. <br /> Mr. M . Roussille asked permission of the Council to erect a 10 x 40--ft . sign on the Frank Tanning <br /> Company ' s property north of the Bayshore , and a permit revocable at any time was granted <br /> on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilmaan. Fletcher. <br /> Marshall Helmer of Rogers Street , asked permission to move about 15 feet over on to another lot <br />
