45 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 16 , 1933 g : 00 P . M . Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , W. J . Dusel , H. A. Beeger , C . J. Hildebrant , R. N. Jones , C . G. Lambert , Paul A. McCarthy , Geo . W. McNulty . Absent : City Clerk, B . E . Myers . In the absence of City Clerk, Councilman Beeger was chosen to serve as Clerk Protein. The minutes of the meeting of October 2 were approved on motion of Councilman Lambert , seconded by Councilman McNulty . Fps . Dempsey , Dr . J. N. Blood and Mr. Chas . Frey of the Veterans discussed with the Council im- provements relating to heating , ventilating , etc . , of the United Veterans ' Hall . Moved by Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant and carried that the Council appro- priate not to exceed $300 for a heating plant with the understanding that if necessary $150 of the amount be paid in the next fiscal year. Mr . Win. Hokin , Mrs . A. L . Lesseman , Mr . Al Davies , and others , discussed with the Council the widening of El Camino Real or State Highway , and the surrendering thereof to the jurisdiction of the State . Said matter was left pending for further discussion in the future after meet- ings with the State Highway Commission and its engineers . On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant , and carried , the City Manager was told to take the necessary steps to clear up the title of approximately three acres of property adjoining the Easter Cross at Emerald Lake at a cost not exceeding $1200 , to which the City now has a deed for from Leonard & Holt . On motion of Councilman Hildebrant , seconded by Councilman McNulty , and carried , permission was granted to Joseph Roza to put a bench on the sidewalk near the corner of Broadway and Arguello Street , but that no advertising be placed upon said bench without the permission of the Council . On motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant , the approved claims were ordered paid . On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Lambert , and carried , the meeting ad- journed to Monday, October 23 , 1933 , at $ : 00 P . M. J1/4 b 1 " VIV City Clerk P stern try SW.'
