Colossal Corinthian pilasters visually support each pediment. Four triglyphs are <br />set above each pilaster. Between the pilasters on the first floor, arched windows <br />stripped of their muntins illuminate the interior (these arched windows may have <br />originally resembled the ltalianate tripartite window set between the pedimented <br />sections of the first floor). The second floor fenestration has paired double-hung <br />windows, each supported visually (but not structurally) by modillions, an <br />entablature, and bases. Elaborate classical surrounds trim these second story <br />windows. Further north on Main Street is a newer, less ornamented addition to <br />the original bank building. It lacks much of the earlier structure's classical <br />features, such as the triangular pediments at the parapet and the elaborate <br />detailing around the windows. Proportions and fenestration are otherwise <br />consistent with the original wing. <br />Seen from the south (on Broadway), the facade also features two triangular <br />pediments resting at the parapet line. Two story Corinthian pilasters also <br />punctuate this facade, dividing it into three parts. The fenestration resembles the <br />Main Street elevation, with large, fixed, round, arched windows on the first floor; <br />to the left of the arched windows is a recessed side entrance, framed by Ionic <br />columns and pilasters. The shafts of the pilasters are ornamented with stucco <br />work. Inset between the arched windows of the first floor in a niche, is a <br />decorative eagle of cast stone. <br />Sources: <br />•Natl.
