09/12/2016 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15520 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY SUPPORTING BAY DAY, OCTOBER 1, 2016 <br /> WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay is central to the quality of life of all residents <br /> of the City of Redwood City, and the Bay Area and sustains a wide range of recreational <br /> and commercial activities that are critical to the local economy; and <br /> WHEREAS, the health of San Francisco Bay and therefore of the Bay Area is <br /> threatened by pollution and climate change, and restoring Bay wetlands and reducing <br /> pollution in the Bay provides multiple benefits for all Bay Area residents and local wildlife; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Clean Water, Pollution.Prevention and Habitat <br /> Restoration Program, approved by voters as Measure AA on June 7, 2016, will protect <br /> San Francisco Bay for future generations by reducing trash, pollution and harmful toxins, <br /> improving water quality, restoring habitat for fish, birds and wildlife, protecting <br /> communities from floods, and increasing shoreline public access; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the people of the Bay Area should celebrate San Francisco Bay <br /> together as a region on at least one Bay Day each year to inspire appreciation, <br /> conversation, education, and action for the Bay, in order to highlight the work of Save The <br /> Bay and other environmental organizations and individuals to improve the health of San <br /> Francisco Bay over the past fifty years. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1.
